The naval soldiers wore steel-plated armor, which made them almost impervious to blunt weapons. This advantage came at the cost of their maneuverability. It seemed as though the pirates were fighting moving, thinking fortresses.
He let out a great roar and attacked the heavily armored soldiers. He spun and slashed one of them in the neck; then, while dodging an attack from a massive broadsword, stabbed another. The boat shook as lightning struck the mast, and set the boat on fire. Blackhand looked around him, and realized that he was the last of his crew left alive. Around twenty soldiers were approaching him, ready to slaughter the infamous captain. He dashed across the deck, narrowly dodging attacks by the soldiers. He was shot in the leg by a crossbow bolt only a moment before jumping into the water. Several soldiers ran and looked over the edge, but could not see where he went. They only assumed that he would drown from the massive waves and the inability to move his leg.
The ship rattled, and then there was a great cracking noise as it split in two and slowly sank into the vicious ocean. The soldiers on the boat scattered onto theirs, and watched as the once mighty and feared ship, Pyro, was swallowed by the depths of the ocean.
And so ended the legacy of the last true pirate, Blackhand, who had burned cities, destroyed entire fleets, and had managed to escape death hundreds of times.
For centuries his ship sank slowly into the sand and eroded more and more until it was gone completely. Now his treasure remains buried in the sand, the treasure that would turn the most selfless man mad with greed, the treasure that even the Gods were envious of. And so it sat in the sand, waiting for centuries to be found; the treasure of King Julin, last king of the mighty Raduonian nation.
