"Come on, Kaisen," urged Amik Varze. He said goodbye to Vallance, and he pulled Kaisen out of the room.
"What did he mean, The Mighty One?" Kaisen asked.
"I don't know, but whoever he is, you'd better find him fast. Without that dragon, I don't know what we'd do."
"Can you buy us some time?"
"Maybe we could bluff them with the dragon egg, and make the enemy army stop for a moment."
"Too late," said a voice from around the corner. It was Kalda. "The battle has started."

The city was in turmoil.
Amik Varze and Kaisen rushed outside into the courtyard outside the castle, near the northern gate. There were many soldiers around, trying to keep the advancing army from breaking into the city.
"You!" Varze stopped a White Knight. "What is going on in the battle? Is Agaben here? Or his Puppet?"
"No, it's just a force of Black Knights and Black Demons," the soldier replied. "Our archers are trying to fend them off, but their numbers are strong."
Varze scowled. "Go on with your job," he commanded, and the Knight departed. "This isn't good. No dragon egg, weakened forces; I don't think we have much of a chance."
Just then, there was a loud bang in the courtyard, and three people materialized out of nowhere.

Zavistic Rarve, Jian, and Zorrath stood in the center of the square. "Kaisen!" exclaimed Rarve. "You are already here?"
"Yes, Master Rarve," replied Kaisen.
"No need to call me Master. I took your advice and ended the Academy. Mages should experience the craft, like you have."
"Might not be alive to enjoy it much longer. The city is under attack."
Rarve's face darkened. "Is there no hope?"
"Not without the dragon egg, and it won't hatch."
"There may be a way, but I must warn you, there is no guarantee of success, and my power will be completely drained for days afterwards."
"You mean you can kill the army?"
"Yes, but it will take a while to prepare." He turned to Varze. "Keep them outside the gate for five minutes more and the seige will be over, and Falador will survive for the moment."

"Done," Varze replied.
Zavistic Rarve walked away, and Jian moved over to Kaisen. "It's been a while," he said casually.
"Yes, it has," Kaisen agreed.
"I can't believe that you've made it this far. Not that I doubt your skills, but even the most powerful mages in the Guild would have difficulty with it."
"Study is only part of the magical craft. You must go out and experience the world to grow. I don't claim to be special, but I am proud that I have come this far." He looked over to Saren and Kalda by the gate. "And that I have made friends like them."
Zorrath joined them. "Your quest has made a difference in my life as well. I have left behind the bitterness of my lineage, and I have found a new meaning for my existence: to protect the dragon egg, just like you."
The city of Falador was shrouded in darkness of the twilight. And yet, there was light. Light in a small group of friends, their bonds of friendship tested by the ravages of the world. And that was enough to brighten the whole place.
