--- Dust Devil ---

Why must they make fun of me?
It's not my fault
That Mom and Dad had a genetic defect.
So what
If I don't have
Arms
Legs
Or any semblance of a face?
It doesn't make me
Any different on the inside.
Heck.
I'm the only one
That drops a Dragon Chain.
So
Vacuum that up, Blackie.

You of all people...
“Not so innocent, am I?”
Obviously not.
*I hate to disappoint.”

Don't you understand
I was drowning out there
In that sea of blackness
You were too slow
To save me.

“Well
You know what comes next.
Whatever.
Goodbye.”
Gone with the night.

Out there, I was scared.
Don't you understand
What it's like to feel rejected?
To feel hated?

Make me the guilty party
Over and over again
I'll become it
I'll become like you

Don't try to stop me
Don't waste your time
For it's too late.
You were always the bait.

Not so innocent, am I?

My girlfriend once wrote this too me, kind of neat.

''All the love that history knows;
Is said to be found in every rose;
Yet all that could be found in two;
Is less than what I feel for you.
I love you, (my name)''

We've been together for 2.5 years. We're having a time-out atm. :/

This is a really great little thread, Worf!

I so enjoyed reading your various poems, though I think my favorites had to be "Thunderstorm", "Eagle's Eye View" and "The Arrow". I love how you have such variation here -- sometimes sad, sometimes joyous, sometimes macabre and sometimes just plain wacky, but each piece has a strong theme, cleverly thought out as if you are saying, "Yes, but have you thought about it this way?"

It's a treat seeing positive encouragement towards other writers to join in with their own material too. Aeraie, you're most certainly a complementary poet in your own right, adding even more to this delightful thread.

And now I had better make myself useful and add one of my own.

--The gem--

My attention is drawn, though I know not why.
Over there. It feels right.
Scraping. Gently now. Impatience battles care.
Chip, chip, chip.
A crack, a fissure, a rend, a tear! Fragments crumble to my feet.
What lies here under the dust?
Dull yet magnificent in the dark; full of promise.
My long search is over. Things will change! I turn to go.

Unless--my attention is drawn.
Maybe one more. Over there.
The faulted rock above my head looks on, unimpressed.

A Poet's troubles

Roses are red
Oranges are orange
I'm scratching my head
and... and...

What should a poet do
When his rhymes don't flow
The words don't come
And the poem doesn't go

Should he stick to it,
Work hard and fight?
Or should he give up
And take flight?

A poet like me
Who's not very good
Has trouble with rhymes
I guess I should.

My biggest issue
Can not be solved
Because I'm afraid
Nothing rhymes with orange.

Hope my poem made someone smile :) . I enjoyed writing it even though it's pretty bad. Anyway, all your guys' are crazy good and deep. Keep up the good work on this thread! :D

-Hey Cool, Look, a Poem-

I can stare at the names,
but the faces won't change,
I'm no longer scared,
but I'm still afraid,
silence among us,
I haven't heard from
you in days.
Paranoid, searching for
what is there,
Lost within these
gregarious figures,
maybe soon I'll forget,
but in my mind it will
still linger.

Hooray for writing a poem after not writing one for a long time. :D
