Chalcon glanced over the parchment; he already knew what it was, but feigned interest nonetheless. “Ah, yes,” he said, “The Edicts of Guthix. They're only meant to apply to gods, but there's a very thin line between a mage who's become immortal and a god, isn't that right? Still, you've bent the rules before, why not do it again this time?”
The mage glared at Chalcon, quite certain the “apprentice” knew the answer to his own question. Chalcon noted the look and smiled saying, “Humor me.”
“The so-called “High Council of Gielinor” would notice my interference in an instant and run screaming to Guthix,” replied the mage, “Although, I will admit that I am very curious as to why a council of archmages is watching over this land with such intense scrutiny...”
“Considering that, what do you intend to do?” asked Chalcon, “Have you come here to ask for my help?”
“Don't flatter yourself,” the mage replied, “I was curious about exactly what you are doing here, so I stuck around and watched you for a while. I would've stayed longer, but I need to visit “The Senate” soon and let them know about the situation on this world.
I don't suppose you'll tell me what you're doing sitting around in this amusing little playground? And don't expect me to believe you're here to learn.”
“What? Are you insinuating that I have not been entirely enthralled by the astounding rune magic practiced on this world?” asked Chalcon.
The mage sighed, “Very well, keep your secrets. Would you like me to relay anything to the Synod or the Senate for you?”
“You probably would've done this already, but remind them that they shouldn't take unilateral action on this world. I'm sure that the mages here have some liaison with the Senate of Magi, even if they don't actually know they do.”
“I'll remember that,” said the mage, “Until we meet again, Chalcon.” With a snap of his fingers, the mage vanished and the room was back to the way it had been before.
