A man with long, brown hair in armor decorated with the dark blue trimmings of mithril appeared in one of the visions. Twin blades of pure azure energy snapped into existence as he swept his arms in a slashing arc at a massive armored skeletal being that looked as if it was barely being held together at its joints. The skeleton-esque warrior laughed at the feeble attack, and swept the man aside easily as it walked into a wall of angry flames which was begging for fuel.
V could only stare in amazement at the proceedings. He had no clue what he was seeing, and each attempt to make out further details only resulted in the scene blurring itself as if on purpose. Eventually reality returned to his view, and he saw the armored figure standing motionless in front of him, its eyes dimmed down to the point of invisibility.
“No,* it grumbled. “That’s…that cannot be.”
“What did we just see?* V asked.
“That…was…our first time,” the armored figure said. “The First Contact. They tried to delay the inevitable. But you? You were there….but not.*
*How does that work out!?” V wondered out loud.
“I saw you,” the figure said. “The First Oceanborn? It is you. But…yet I saw you. A casualty of battle. Not of the Cosmic Ocean.”
“What is the Cosmic Ocean?” V asked. “I’ve never heard of it before.”
“It is our home,” the figure said. “Beyond the stars. Beyond the places you know as a hell, a heaven, and existence. Beyond your understanding. That is where we reside, and that is where we have been waiting, now and always.”
“But does it have anything to do with my request?”

The figure made an unintelligible sound that vaguely resembled inhuman laughter. “Not at all,” it replied. “But it is part of your understanding. As for your request…the answers do not lie in you. But they may not stay that way for long. Now, I fear I must take my leave. I look forward to meeting you on the field of battle once more, Damned One.”
“Wait!” V screamed as the armored being turned and began walking. “Why don’t we settle this now? Between you and me, no minions to distract us?”
“It is not time,” the figure called back. “Nor do you stand a fair chance at succeeding now. Besides, I think you have bigger issues to attend to, no?*
V was about to ask what that meant, but a growing rumble distracted him long enough to lose track of the figure in the distance. He didn't know what to make of the encounter.
On one hand, he at least knew now that there was a chance the ghost back at the tomb on the Plane of Shadows might have been wrong about him. On the other hand, he didn't exactly get a direct answer, and the thought that even the creature didn't know for sure disturbed him greatly for some reason.
And what of the skeletal figure fighting the brown haired man? Was it simply him reliving Arial’s last minutes of life many years ago, or was it something the being had used to throw him off guard? And for that matter, how was it all related to Samael and the crystal he had seen? Were they even related?
The rumble began to reach an unbearable volume, causing V to turn around. He could only stare in awe as the bricks on Falador’s pristine white wall ripped themselves free of the masonry and flew into the air. What’s more, he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he saw what they began to gather around instead.
“Crap, now I’m probably going to need to fix this mess to,” he growled to himself as he unholstered his crossbow and began walking into the City of White through an impromptu entrance.

Welp, that was a long one. Now that the last big(ish) chapter of this particular scene is up things should be resuming at normal pace relatively soon.
Again, sorry for the real long delay between this chapter and the last. If all goes well it should be a cold day in hell before that happens again.
Have a Happy Halloween in the meantime xD

Oh, I read the chapter, FYI. Took me four sittings.
Well, RuneScape seems to have deleted the rest of my message, so I'll have to retype it in a sec.

OK! I just wanted to mention that the combat is still brief, and this makes me RAAAAAGE. Other than that, there's kinda of a repetition in happenings, that otherworldly beings pop by, a little fight occurs, and they say something that makes little sense, the character asks what it means, and the being leaves. At times it's like the foes are intentionally slow so that the characters have a chance to talk about things.
For a little helper, I decided to share some links depicted historic combat technique and action. Having a little idea of historic fighting will broaden and spice-up combat, and, mixing it with fiction, will make things, in my opinion, a bit more elaborate.
Just add what is needed, and remove that dumb smiley to see the damn thing (smiley as a "= o" but with no space of course).

Right. First things first, thanks for the links, but I don't think Jagex allows them to be posted unless they lead to a jagex-sponsored site. So don't be surprised if I end up asking you to edit them out in the near future when I get an answer on that >****;
Anyways....
"OK! I just wanted to mention that the combat is still brief, and this makes me RAAAAAGE."

I think I said this before, but I'll say it again since it bears repeating. Combat isn't going to be long because of the very nature of some of the enemies in the series. That's not to say there won't be the occasional long fight, but for now those scenes are still a ways off.
But if it makes up for anything, there *will* be a story set in the elf lands that has a more realistic bent as far as fights and monsters go. It's just a matter of finishing this first before I get there D:

Noted on the first part about repetition. But you may or may not be onto something with the intentionally slow monsters. I can't say much more than that atm because I suck at talking about this stuff without spoiling plot points :l

Yeah, it's ok. I know that you have a cumbersome load on your back, but I felt that I had to criticize something, and if I don't, I honestly start feeling like a useless commentator XD
I recall reading somewhere on the website that you don't have to report YouTube on someone for "advertising websites", so I had a hunch that it was ok to direct stuff there. Cozmic did, however, mention that it shouldn't be done. JAGEX is sometimes difficult to understand.
Perhaps my expectations are a little too great. In my own stories, there is fighting that can last up to a few pages straight, and I'll admit that I also have a lot of repetition myself. I am rereading my older stories to fix that, though. One way to make combat better without really increasing length is to mention "steps" of fighting, for example, I’d depict the Raven Knights:
"...they fell from above, folding their wings to increase falling speed, landing atop their targets with such force that the clanging of metal against metal rang like an ethereal bell, weight cracking necks and also bringing down the unfortunate targets and then jumping onto the next man, and from there they wrestled around like cats, blood and feathers fluttering to and fro."
^ Or something like that. Just one paragraph, generalizing the actions while mentioning both sides (at least for knights). I have found that very aggressive fight scenes pump blood and make you wanna do more about the story, so it's a little extra work, but when I get excited about an idea, I soon start typing non-stop and get a lot done.

As for the links, I can edit them out whenever you want, or you can do it instead when you finish watching them. Having studied Ancient, Dark and Medieval ages for over ten years (I was reading about them since five years old), and having practised with armour and weapon replicas in real life, I get really sensitive to these matters, and often end up annoying other people (this is why I can't play many fantasy medieval games for more than two minutes).
But yeah, I guess I should shut up about that now. Other than that, the story is loaded with so much content that so many smaller stories can become outgrowths of the main plotline. I am curious to the finale of things, but as you said, you don't have to give out spoilers.
I look forward to future additions, and happy Halloween!

Sorry for the late reply; school and work training seriously clouded my schedule over the past few weeks.

Trust me, it's not going unnoticed. I appreciate the fact that someone's actually commenting on what could be improved about the thing instead of just "nice story :) " and leaving it at that (not that posts like that aren't welcome. They just don't give me any idea about where the story's at :/ ).

Yeah, I've seen like...2-3 different rules about that. Personally, I don't care if they stay around for now unless a Jmod pokes me saying otherwise. But I can't speak for any other fmod that might say otherwise, though I suspect that won't be a problem anytime soon*

Aha. Seriously, I really didn't like writing a lot of the background fighting bits in this chapter because it just felt off somehow (I chalked it up to a relatively long writing time making things nearly unbearable tbh >****; ). I have no clue how you came up with that example, but I see what you mean by that whole thing.
Again, thanks for all the feedback. I wish I could say more, but I'm finding it real hard to say anything at this time of the night as it is. So peace out til next time? x_X

Alright, I know it's been awhile since last update, so here's the ETA post or whatever you wanna call it. I'm going to try something a little different with these types of posts from now on just because I'm sick of getting ingame/steam PM's about how progress is going and what's coming up next. So if this doesnt work out, get in line and sue me or something :D

Current chapter progress: roughly 40-50% done

Expected ETA: Thanks to a short month and work and an upcoming graduation, sometime near the beginning or middle of March. Earlier if I get good speed on my days off of work.

There ya have it, folks. Hopefully this will be enough to keep things at bay occasionally while I work on finishing this damn thing sometime before we all die of old age or the zombie apocalypse :3

Expected upcoming content: This damn Falador business gets settled once and for all with the coming chapter, and we finally move on to Phase II and get back to Varrock and the conspiracies broiling in its criminal underworld.
