Don't make this a clan chat.
I used to come here all the time and I still enjoy popping in when my Clan Chat is dull or tense. Plus, my old clan was originally a FC, and when they turned into a Clan, they took the same grudges and values and traditionalism with them. New people were still unwelcome and they hosted no events. So I don't see a Clan working unless you make a dramatic effort to cut down on snobbiness. Anyways I haven't been here in a long time so I don't know how people are but I think that applies to most situations.

Motley, I don't see how reading the rules is the issue for the newer members. They are all simple rules, & ones that are being broken by the older members, not the newer ones. They are seeking help & people are getting frustrated by the most simple things, resulting in unnecessary abuse. Very few people will try & help them or advise them where to go, & you mention people should just use ignore lists & rise above it yet there is no mention of that when it occurs with plenty of active ranks in the chat. This just turns into a repetitive cycle, as there is apparently no punishment for abuse, & it's the same people doing it every day because they know they're untouchable & nothing will be done about it. If that's seen as the sort of chat you want to be in & the people you want to know then that's not my decision, but it shouldn't be effecting anyone else who's using it.

Hi 4LCH
Oh have no fear :) I have no plans on changing the Achievers into an official clan, but rather have an offshoot sister group for those who aren't in a clan and for others who wish to join.
It'll be a help/support group that is much like my "a kind beginning" that i had created a few years back, who go out into runescape to help newcomers....and even support each other in our own endeavours.
It won't replace Achievers. Achievers will always remain an open group rather than a clan. I agree though, we need to be more open and welcoming to newcomers because if not, the group will never grow and people simply won't come back.
My effort and mission has always been to make a difference, and to encourage others to make a positive difference to those around them by treating them as they want to be treated. If people can't follow the golden rule, they may have to find another chat.

Thank you for your comment. That is exactly what I have seen as well, and much of it has been completely unnecessary. For example, people jumping on newcomers who make spelling mistakes. One thing people forget is that not everyone has English as their first language, and some people are still fairly young so their English won't be perfect.
Our current members need to be more welcoming and more accepting of these types of things. It's sad to watch them jump on newcomers when they themselves are good at breaking chat rules. It's become much like a double standard.
Granted, there are some people who purposely come in to cause trouble, but we can't use that to judge them all. Hopefully at this meeting tomorrow, we can sort out the best way to deal with those who purposely disrupt the chat, and those who troll others unnecessarily, even if they are our friends. Problems are coming from both old and new, and it's not fair for the chat to lay these problems solely on the newcomers.
It's embarrassing quite frankly.

Hope all's well here! I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately, but should hopefully be able to come back in full swing sometime soon :) . It's been great seeing an influx of new members in the chat and I hope this re-make of the thread/ranking system, etc goes well.
Keep on achieving! ^_^
