Oi I got beat. :p But I love answering questions like this! lol.
@Gnome Secret - Both range level and range bonus affect cannon accuracy. It does not affect max hit, which is where I think the whole confusion started. Anyone who has tried using a cannon at lvl 1 range knows there's a huge difference in accuracy as your lvl improves (i.e. you hit a LOT of 0s at lvl 1). Range pots are an essential tool, especially at lower levels.
Range bonus also affects accuracy, so it's a good idea to wear the best range gear you can. I tested this myself, and came up with a difference of 2 xp per cannonball with a +100 difference in range bonus. You might think that doesn't look very significant, but it really is, it's 10%, since the average xp per cb is 20. So, (as a rough example), if you were racing your friend to 2m range xp through only cannoning and your friend had a range bonus of +100 and you had a range bonus of +0, you'd end up using almost 10k more cannonballs to get the same amount of xp.
Think that's worth it?
