Strength cape (t)
Primary methods used to get 99 strength:
Questing (early game)
Slayer (mid and late game)
Ammonite crabs (mid and late game)
It's probably the stereotypical combat 99 to get first, but it's not really seeing bigger hit numbers that interested me, but rather the increase in efficiency: a max hit generally increases your dps much more than a bit of extra accuracy, or taking damage slightly less often.
If attack also increased your chance to hit higher and defence made a more noticeable impact on the amount of damage you take, perhaps things would've gone differently. Although since you can't train strength with abyssal whip, it might've been the better path to take anyway.
In any case, this'll be great preparation for bossing, since getting gear is hard enough already.

~~ Sparrowhawk Fact #3 (Strength) ~~
Sparrowhawk's talons and their grip strength is what ultimately kills the sparrowhawk's prey most of the time: small birds are easily squeezed, while for bigger prey they cause internal injuries, which can lead to the prey's death, even if it manages to break free or wriggle about.
