The Java client will be discontinued relatively soon, so it is not a good use of development time to fix something like this. That's one reason why the Companion App was discontinued.

The only reason why the Java client is still available is because there's still a very low percentage of players who have not upgraded to the NXT client. Jagex would rather attempt to migrate most of these players in a "nice" way rather than do what every other game company has done in regards to players still using severely outdated hardware. Players are forced to adapt by upgrading their hardware or risk getting left behind. It isn't rocket science!
Well they can't discontinue Java until NXT becomes, ya know, at least as good. Or...actually playable.

It's been over five months since the Mining rework now, they really ought to fix the rockertunities. Then again, Dungeoneering has been broken due to EoC for over 6 years so we may have to wait a while omre...

It comes back to Jagex wasting development time on Java, that's holding the NXT client from being more playable for the very small % of the playerbase using Java. As I said, it's not rocket science. If these players bought better hardware capable of playing with the NXT client, Jagex can make the NXT client even better.

Jagex can even trim these players off and force players who genuinely want to continue playing RS3 to upgrade their hardware, like the majority of gaming companies have done. RS3 cannot continue to be held back forever for something silly like a very small group clinging to very old hardware.

If Jagex fixes rockertunites in Java, good for those players, but a big waste of development time nevertheless considering Java will (not might) be removed. The Java client currently is still a supported way of playing the game. A small number of players or not, that means that it has to continue to receive the necessary bug fixes, to allow players who still choose to use to able to play properly.

Once they drop the support for the Java client, it's fair to stop maintaining it and no sooner.

Also you are just making assumptions that players solely use the Java client because of outdated hardware that is incapable for playing with the NXT client.

While there are undoubtedly a lot of players that use Java because their hardware is incapable of running NXT, there are also, a lot of players, myself included, who still use Java because the NXT client still has bugs, which are unrelated to the existence of the Java client, that mess up our ability to play properly. Bugs like that could been fixed in NXT a long, long time ago, but simply haven't been.

As long as Jagex allows such issues to exist, they are holding themselves back, as they give players a valid reason to use Java instead of NXT.

Jagex can ill afford to trim off players, considering the popularity of RS3 currently. Such a decision would very unpopular and therefore wouldn't bode well with the community.

So it is their choice, either you fix the issues that players still have with NXT, so that you are able to drop support for Java or you leave them unfixed and are therefore forced to keep supporting Java.

Yet they cant "fix" anything as long as they have to worry about Java.

I mean im sure if they were to try to "fix" things on NXT, it would more than likely break something on Java.
