I'm on Debian 10.4. Today the launcher downloaded a new client, and it will no longer open.

The error is:

./rs2client: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

From my understanding the client is relying on an outdated version libssl-dev which has security vulnerabilities.

Thank you Hmm for your reply.

I've installed snapd via apt. When I attempt to install the runescape snap I'm met with the following:

> sudo snap install runescape
error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Mount snap "runescape" (4) (snap "runescape" assumes unsupported features: snapd2.41 (try to update snapd and refresh the core snap))

> dpkg -l | grep snapd
ii snapd 2.37.4-1+b1 amd64 Daemon and tooling that enable snap packages

It appears I will need to wait for the flatpak to be updated or a Jagex fix (haha).

Okay, I had to install the hello-world snap, followed by snapd snap, and then finally the runescape snap.

It seems to crash when opening the client.

(Loader shows, downloads the client, then disappears and no client is launched

> runescape.rs3
Launching RuneScape
Gtk-Message: 18:08:52.431: Failed to load module "gail"
Gtk-Message: 18:08:52.432: Failed to load module "atk-bridge"

Any ideas? I appreciate all your help thus far.

Apologies, I do have the proprietary drivers! I was convinced I was using the nouveau drivers.

I was initially going to soft link my newer libraries to the versions the client requires but that did not work, then I was going to side load them as you suggested but I see they have vulnerabilities (I did not dig into the specifics). I will be patient and hope that Jagex sorts it out sooner than later.

Thanks very much for all your input and help.
