Has anyone using an AMD card shared my experience lately? The last few months the NXT client has been borderline un-playable due to freezing for 1-2 seconds at a time while simultaneously turning the mini-map in to corrupted garbage like this:

Seems to be triggered in any busy areas frequently, or whenever something on the map updates, e.g. someone opening/closing a door, mining a rock, cutting down a tree.

Happens regardless of any graphics settings or mesa environment options. Happens with both the modesetting or amdgpu X drivers.

I tried running the Java client for the first time in months but it seems to just crash now, and NXT on WINE now gets stuck in a loop constantly re-opening the launcher. I think my last hope for actually playing RuneScape on Linux is Java on WINE at this point.

Off to try downgrading a whole bunch software on the chance that a newer driver or library broke something...

Edit: Confirmed to freeze just as much on any combination of Linux 4.14/4.15, and Mesa 13/17/18.

Edit Edit: Definitely not alone: 415-416-840-65982965 415-416-30-65987774

Long live our Knight :D

Well my expertise is only with the Legacy client so if there is any NXT related stuff that should be on the first page just tell me

There's a command you have to use on Ubuntu to install NXT, that basically involves downloading an older version of a specific library, and it comes up about 4 times per page on the old thread. I'll dig it out quick!

EDIT: BINGO!

Original message details are unavailable.

sudo wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/161405671/libglew1.10_1.10.0-3_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i libglew1.10_1.10.0-3_amd64.deb

Seems to be because Nxt is built upon such an ancient version of Ubuntu, it won't run on newer versions without this.

sadly i have no expeirence with AMD gpus on linux for the last 14 years
i can however try have a look and see if there is anything i can do to prevent the java client from crashing if you can provide a log of the terminal output from it :)
no promises though since i think its a driver related issue :/

OT: It is great to see some form of linux help thread :)

WIll this thread only be for RS Related linux help?

Thats the idea, old thread got unstickied for a forum cleanup and then nobody stuck it back so it had to wrestle the other threads.
