First post on here so bear with me!

So I’ve been using the vanilla osrs client for awhile now on my 2013 MacBook Pro (Big Sur 11.7.1) and have had no issues at all until today. I was having problems with Pro Tools earlier today, and after hours of trying to get everything working, I gave up and completely wiped/restored my MBP to factory settings (which solved all my issues with ProTools hey hey!!) but now the vanilla client won’t load at all. Upon reset, I installed the OSRS client, opened it and it said there was no Java Runtime Environment. I followed the directions on the OSRS download page and downloaded Java JRE, but when I try to open OSRS, the icon bounces once on my dock and nothing happens at all, no JRE or any other type of error appears. I then proceeded to follow the next set of directions and erase Java thru terminal and redownload, as well as reinstalling the client, no luck, same issue. Oddly enough, runelite works perfectly, however I find that it sorta bogs down my old MBP, so I prefer to use the vanilla client if im AFKing and/or running other programs while im playing. And firewall is off (saw that issue on other posts)

Just looking to see if anyone here has any suggestions. And just to reiterate, the vanilla client was working perfectly yesterday (as well as the past few years) before I did the reset to get my protools working today.

Thanks in advance!

Same here - 2022 iMac running OS 13 Ventura.

There was a JRE update today and since then, the client just bounces once on my dock and then nothing happens.

I have reinstalled the client, reinstalled java, restarted, nothing seems to fix the issue.

Are you guys using '
Jagex's Official RuneScape 3/OldSchool RuneScape Game Clients
' or are you all using 3rd party game clients?

Let's have a look...

Java's update definitely caused it. Had that happen on my desktop, but laptop was fine.

jre-8u331 is a safe one to rollback to (my laptop is still running this one and hasnt been given the 351 build yet), just a couple updates back and use temporarily until a future patch fixes the problem (either java messed something up, or jagex will have to recompile the app with changes to make it load again).
