This feels like a poor design choice in almost every regard. I'm aware that plenty of players were voting for removing favor, but they weren't voting to remove it because it's
bad
content, but rather because it's slow.
Kourend's favor system acts as a perfect built-in guide for new players, whether they're new to the game, or simply new to the area. It slowly introduces different pieces of content to the player, ensuring that the endeavor of unlocking a specific piece of content shows the player plenty of other option available to them.
Not only does it act as a lovely guide, but it also gives the area a unique,
immersive
experience. The game as a whole currently suffers an issue in which newer players will unlock plenty of content without being aware of it, then never being able to utilize the piece of content. This leads to the game getting stale quickly for those that weren't there for content releases. Having to build favor with different factions on the continent also works amazingly in the way of helping players to really feel like they are their character. It doesn't make sense for these factions to completely trust you without question, especially since you're from a foreign land.
Lastly, I will say that it is completely against the faith of the game to simply remove an entire mechanic that makes a section of the game unique in favor of players reaching their end goal faster. It not only devalues the goals, but also removes variety from the game.
I truly hope that this change gets reverted, it's not right that I wasn't given the option to vote for updated transportation methods in Kourend and the removal of the favor system
separately.
