I think removing favor would be a mistake. I really like the system since it helps build the story around the quests in the area. Healing wounded soldiers is tedious but also a great way to immediatly understand the shayzien house. Same for the other houses like the library and fertilizer feel like they really build the stories of the houses. I am fine with fixing some of the issues with transport and making things less tedious like making sulfer mining better but removing favor entirely seems weird.

I realize that this doesn't hold much weight (as I've not seen this account restriction elsewhere) but this will basically make Kourend unusable for me. A lot of this game holds together with combat and such removed but there are some notable oversights and this is going to be one of 'em and that's a shame.

I'm a fan of reworking favour, I guess. But locking content behind quests is so much less flavourful. It's kind of miraculous that all five houses have vegan favour-earning methods, including Shayzien . It's a microcosm of the flexibility you get in the rest of the game. There's no single right way to play.

I dunno. I'm just kinda disappointed. Feels like a lot of the life is being scooped out of the area. Just more quest unlocks now. Which I can't do.

The other details are cool though. Three thumbs up.

Kourend has a lot of character, and a lot of it comes from the tasks in the favour system. I agree with the above posts that gutting the favour system and Architectural Alliance would throw the baby out with the bathwater, and leave the Kourend quest line as just Client of Kourend, one quest for each house, and Kingdom Divided, which I don't think lets each house shine.

If I may offer what will probably be the wildest alternative, what if instead the favour system, client of Kourend and Architectural Alliance were reworked into OSRS second special category quest like Recipe for Disaster? Have a set of tiers where a player only has to do one or two old favour tasks to unlock the activities unlocked by the current favour system, a couple more to complete the statue and begin Kingdom Divided, and doing all the possible task could, say, unlock more rail destinations as the houses trust the player and eachother more? Like, let's take Port Picarilius as an example: You're fresh of the boat and done helping Veos and want to make friends. You could repair cranes for the Dockmaster, move fish for Frankie, dig up sand worms for Tynann, or steal artefacts for Khaled (if you have the theving levels). Helping any one of them enough will unlock access to the shops and anglerfish, two will get you in contact with Pilliar for making the statue, and all four will get a minecart destination. Plus, toss in some dialogue about the region, or the work being done, and after the mini quest of helping them, you can keep doing the task for the usual exp and rewards. For some tasks, like ploughing the fields in Hosidius, the famer we're helping might have to be added in.

The main goals here would be to reduce the grind of current system; either maintaining or reducing the skill and unlock requirements for current activities; while keeping as much content available; and as an added bonus lets a couple on NPC have a bit more of a connection to the players.

What kind of nonsense is this?

To complete all the favours takes less time than getting full Prospectors, then maybe just add full Prospector being buyabl for gp and call it a day?
And all of those "oh skill pures are upset" yata yata, yes let's just strip them from the content that was accessible with no issues for the past years, just because everyone cares about themselves and since everyone mostly plays mains or simple ironmen....
Don't forget you are making stuff easier for bots to invade Zeah, even tho there are plenty of them now, there would be even more....

Do a poll for such things instead of "oh yeah some snowflakes told us it's hard, so we are removing it"

Do not lock key activities (blood altar, blast mine, tithe farm, etc.) behind quests. That's an awful idea and will negatively impact many accounts types.

Why in the world would you make fishing anglers simply require the fishing level but make using the Hosidius kitchen require a quest to kill a snake immune to poison? Yes, I'm sure we can recoil it, but is this really the best play here?

Why would you recognize the skilling community by adding a section to the high scores and then dunk on them by forcing them to recoil quest monsters?

Removing the favor system doesn't really fix the issue at hand. It's not necessarily that players don't like the favor system, but rather they seem to hate the slow speed at which you gain it with a burning passion. Perhaps adding more ways to raise your favor would help players with the seemingly agonizing grind they face with the system?
