I wonder if they would consider adding mounts to speed up skilling with taming. I noticed they posted another article about possibly making blood and soul runes for the scythe and tumekens shadow cheaper,

The idea of mounts has been around forever and never happened with summoning.

I think Lewis made great points
new skill is very dangerous territory for rs, and sadly all of these proposals feel very familiar
sailing
this idea has been floating around for a long time ;) but i dont see how it becomes a skill integrated into the existing game hence the need for a sailing map and sailing activites(minigames)
taming
i have often thought keeping a herd of cows or a flock of chickens could be an alternative for fishing for high tier food. besides a follower pig or goat would be top notch
basicaly a compliment to the farming skill. also pets seem very popular in game but have nothing to add as far as utility. some extra inventory spaces or skilling bonuses or maybe even a mount to make running around the map less tedious? combat pets have too much baggage i think. this is my fav of the proposals but i think the skill does boil down to domestication. dont over complicate IMO
warding/shamanism/divination
need i say more lads

I'm really liking the shamanism pitch. Feels very cool.

+1 to the person who said Archaeology would work in osrs, I very much agree. Think it's fun in RS3 and I think it would be fun in OSRS.
Seeing as leaving Runescape is impossible, I'm a serial break taker

Mainly an rs3 player, but I gotta say I'd like to see taming. Part of what I miss from old school as I knew it was summoning. A better take on it would be a great idea.

Shamanism though has me interested. How the items and augments work and how the gathering is handled is what I wanna see. Saying stuff you gather is untradable makes me think of invention. Not really something I see working in old schools style, but you can't jump to conclusions.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I always enjoyed summoning. The bloat on the screen was the annoying part but with the great new client with runelite, you could just toggle that off I'm sure. Taming seems quite "tame" in comparison.

Shamanism seems okay, but I would love to see a skill such as archeology or engineering.

Taming

I'm aware we've been told how this isn't Summoning but in practice isn't it just really similar? Player-owned animals provide buffs to the player, assisting them and making game-play easier.

Isn't this just half of the Summoning skill? Maybe other players will look at this a different way than me and say it's nothing like Summoning! I respect that opinion but it's too close to the concept of Summoning for me.

World of Warcraft ran into a problem with its Hunter class. Some players wanted to be a ranger but they felt that running without a pet made them less competitive or they were playing at a disadvantage, so Blizzard was required to add a perk to provide a damage boost to Hunters who didn't want to use a pet.

What if a player doesn't want to use pets? What if someone's 99-strength and slayer, Bandos-wearing, Hasta-using hero doesn't care for animals? He kills them he doesn't feed rabbits and he's not keen on Dragons.

To me, the point of Runescape is an ordinary person becomes the hero Gielnor needs. I feel that relying on NPC pets devalues this.

I agree. Although I was always on the opposite side of the fence with enjoying Summoning. I knew its shortcomings but its positive outweighed the negatives for me and if it was more refined I'm sure a lot more players would enjoy it. Taming feels like a second rate summoning to me and I think the actual addition of summoning would be useful for certain parts of the game. If they removed beast of burden then that would fix already half the problem people had. The bloat on the screen can be toggled off with Runelite.

If taming was to be released I'd still want that sort of spiritual element of ethereal beasts not just real life animals I have to take care of. I do that with my pet dog Dex and I don't want to play the Sims.

I like the idea of Taming. This sound like item sink where the other skills will bring skilling item to game.

Training tamining would make we use food, supplier from skill that already in game. Good way to get rid of suppliers.

Also They can make incude pets already owned as rare tamining pets.
So have default pet basic. Rare pets (from skills and boss).

Shamanism sound good also .

MY skills:
Like slayer but skiller.

Skiller master gives you task to complete example: cut 1k log and bring item to him. he will reward you GE value and exprince which can be used for reward like slayer.

Upgrade axe, pick axe etc.

^iteam sick
^makes u trval to skills
^ item dont go to GE/Other place
