I really like this skill and want to see it pass. A couple of things I would change are the tradeable nature of artisan tools-- I think they should be earned and enjoyed by those who have trained the skill and become "artisans".
The fillets are pretty weak, most likely because if they gave a guaranteed or full-strength effect there would be an OP riot. I think they could be buffed a bit without major issues to the game.
So many want to see parts of artisan added to existing skills. but I believe that artisan is a skill in its own right. EVERYBODY loves slayer and artisan is quite clearly a skiller's version of it. It sounds perfectly enjoyable and balanced to me.
I think that people need to breathe and take a step back. Oldschool Runescape should have the oldschool feel, and it does. It is meant to be its own game, separate from rs3 and not limited to what actually existed in 2007. New content keeps people interested, and as far as skills go, I know you'd be hard-pressed to find a better idea. We've covered all of the simple, practical skills and artisan is an equally practical addition. It's not gonna ruin the game, and if you don't like it you don't have to train it. Slayer isn't required for any major pvm or quests, I'm sure artisan will behave the same way. I REALLY don't see why so many players have such a doomsday attitude about every update...be open-minded and
enjoy the
game
