Runecrafting tower defense? I don't like the "guardians" and don't think they should be such a focal point of the game. They're ugly. Instead, charge pillars with rune energy that will periodically blast the monsters. Different abyssal monsters are weak against different kinds of runes.

The tier system, batteries, etc just seems like it's overcomplicating the game and doesn't seem fun.

If I'm reading this correctly, you craft runes and also get awarded MORE runes at the end of the game?

The game also has three reward currencies? Abyssal pearls, elemental energy, and catalytic energy?

The catalytic talisman, elemental tiara, etc. are cool. Combine catalytic and elemental and create an omnitalisman/tiara?

The blood talisman is nice but also why is it being introduced with this update?

IDK I feel like there's a lot going on here and the game can be trimmed down significantly and nothing of value would be lost. More gameplay and less systems.

First of all; this seems lovely! I'm very excited by the prospect of a runecrafting quest AND minigame. I'm a massive fan of The Great Orb Project and the science-meets-magic aspect of the Runecrafting Guild from 2008 and would love to see something similar in OS.

I won't comment on the intricacies of the gameplay, as the proposed design is quite lengthy and, at first sight, rather confusing. Ideally I'd have to play it to be able to give feedback, but overall it seems fun. However, I should note that it should not be too complicated. If the tutorial is longer than 5-7 minutes or the rules book more than 10 or so pages, it's too complicated and some mechanics should be simplified. As Miu remarks above, having three reward currencies is waaay too confusing as well.

Overall, while the core of the design and gameplay seems promising, I should recommend to critically go over the entire thing and simplify the mechanics where possible.

I'm also curious where the lobby of this minigame would be. Wizards' Tower of Mage Training Arena, I would presume. Given that there is no RC Guild (yet?!?!?), I would recommend the MTA; its aesthetics are rather more pleasing to the eye (and it has a clear connection to rune guardians) and it's easy to reach via ring of duelling at least. Adding a basement like with the Rune Mechanics quest from RS3 would do the trick. I hope the science aspect that is so prominent in the 2008 guild will be incorporated in this update as well. Maybe add Wizards Vief, Korvak (he's been to the Abyss!), Acantha and/or Elriss, and perhaps even the only-references magical theorists Hallam and Beenay, to the game with interesting dialogue about the "theoretical physics" aspect of magic and runecrafting?

As for the quest, there's much to expand upon. Having done both Rune Mysteries and the Abyss miniquest (where we help the ZMI) will surely make for a good story. Maybe involve/reference the Dagon'hai as well? Just a thought.

So, whilst my main piece of feedback is to ensure that the gameplay and mechanics are not overly complicated, here's some random tidbits.

- One more note on the reward currencies; I would reduce the three down to two. One type of currency that's awarded just for participation and is the same for everyone who played; this would only be able to buy generic rewards such as runes, talismans, etc. And one based on your own active input, much like pieces of eight in Trouble Brewing.

Whilst TGOP is great, one of its flaws is that you really lose out on reward tokens if you lose many rounds, even if the results were close and you played very well. Don't make this same mistake.

- Make sure there are left-clicks whenever appropriate and the actual clicking isn't tedious. Again, Trouble Brewing is a great minigame but the lack of left-clicks makes it very annoying to play.

- A new pet is great, but please don't make it rng-based like other pets. It should be a reward bought with currency. An expensive one, sure, but a buyable one.

- Abyssal lantern: I suppose a log storage box might be useful in the minigame lobby.

- Skilling outfit: great idea, but I dislike the design. It looks very bland. I would much prefer if you copied the master runecrafter robes released with TGOP. I don't know whether OS can handle that level of detail but they look amazing .

- Ring of the elements: I should think altar teletabs (like with TGOP) would work much better (for all altars, not just elemental). In order to store them in one place, maybe the runecrafter outfit could get a shield-slot satchel item that holds tablets?

- Catalytic talisman: I'd rather see the omni-talisman and -tiara than a separate catalytic one.

- Some kind of POH reward for the skill hall (or minigame hall! See suggestion in my signature) would be nice. A fancy rune guardian or abyssal creature-themed reward for the (boring old) rune display case hotspot perhaps?

If the only benefit of the outfit is extra runes, it's only really useful for ironmen. I think it should have the 2.5% bonus XP like the other skilling outfits. Don't forget, you're sacrificing the graceful effects to use it, so while you're gaining extra runes, you're using more stamina potions.

Rather than having a unique pet from this minigame, I think it would be better to have a buyable from the reward shop which can be used on the existing rift guardian pet. Much like the dark acorn from Hallowed Sepulchre.

How about for points earned there is a buyable item from the rewards shop that reduces the degrade rate of runecraft pouches. It could double or triple the uses before a pouch decays. Maybe the item could be an enchantment scroll that is used on a pouch. This perk would be of particular benefit to those that don't have the magic level for npc contact or don't want to use the rift/npc contact as often.

It could be a degradable perk so that after a certain amount of uses the pouch reverts back to the normal degrade rate. Players must earn more points in the mini-game to purchase additional scrolls to continue benefiting from this perk.

I think the mini game sounds fun, but the exp rates might be a little high especially depending on how much this scales with your level.

The colossal pouch and fire altar teleport sound a little bit overpowered, but I guess they wouldn't be that game breaking. All the other rewards are cool though.

I could see this potentially crashing the price of a lot of different runes, which might be a problem if this is meant to help players who want to make money with RC.

would love 2 see the ring of the elements in f2p but have you taken into account tiara runecrafting?

i got 96 rc by just making earth tiara's at 14k/h as f2p (please don't ask why ;) ). i can manage rates at 17k/h in pvp world with water tiara's. with the eleminiation of having to walk alot i could see rates of up to 40-50k/h in f2p. wich then compairs to p2p content.

ive also seen the prices of talismans triple the last year. given the xp rates this will propbably go 4 times over again. is this something you considerd?

also with f2p content released last year wich for me wasn't worth it at all. i think that content will go to waste.

love to see the ring for f2p. don't see much use for p2p other then a long lasting teleport methode just for lava's. but i would like to see how you think it will impact the current market and rates
