I think the idea could be cool but would need to be handled very delicately.
One huge point is skills. They either can't be trained on this new content, or must have worse XP rates then the main/default continent. If you add better methods it will make the normal continent dead content, at which point it's not even oldschool anymore. Furthermore, I have grown quite tired of over the years working tirelessly on a skill for it to become **** easy a few months later. Runecrafting, 'nuff said.
This new content would have to be more focused on being fun and interesting then skill or functionality. Things like new bosses or mini-games would be totally fine as long as they don't run into skills. More of a new world to explore, new fights, tons of new cosmetics. Maybe even clue scrolls that can only be found on that continent and only completed on that continent.
It can still be an amazing place to go and have a good time, but if it makes the main continent dead content or replaces skill methods, a lot of people will be against it. If it does pass due to people being unaware of the full extent of that, a lot of people will be on their way out the door once it comes out, and I would sadly be one of those people.
This isn't an idle threat, or me trying to create a debate or argument, I simply wanted to get ahead of this and define that it would be an issue, and would really effect the future of the community.
I'm not totally against the idea of skills on the new continent to be clear, not even close. It just needs to be handled very smartly, xp rates need to be almost exactly on par with the current best methods or worse, simple.
Examples of valid skills on the new continent:
Farming patches, with equal farm run times.
Hunting new animals but with equal xp rates as current best.
An bad example would be making skills afk-able. That creates so much dead content, it's so bad for the game. Hope you guys see this and agree. Look forward to more awesome suggestions.
