I have total faith in Jagex and for OSRS. They have obvisely got experts in to give them advice on how to keep the market in good shape. It will help the market now and in the future. We all care about the game and we all hope that its still here in the future so well done Jagex. Keep up the good work

Thank you and stay safe

I get the whole idea behind the item sink but hate the idea of the tax. I agree that we get taxed enough in real life to be reminded of this in a game that most of us use as an escape to enjoy our time. In addition, as others have said, it's going to create let profit for those of us who are playing the game legit. Meaning instead of making a profit buying and making items, we'll be at a loss. When RS3 turned to crap, I literally stopped playing. I only returned to OSRS because it was like it used to be. I don't know but this taxing nonsense is a big turnoff.

Yeah I’m not the biggest fan of the tax update, it makes flipping on the GE much worse. We have plenty of gold sinks already, was this really necessary? And no poll for such a huge change to the market? I just bought a year of membership now I’m having second thoughts lol. The Mayor Of The ROC - 2011

Where do we go to vote against the GE tax. Its not in the polls and it really should be. If im selling an item for 1b, i should get 1b. With this 1% tax it means youre taking 10m from me in that case. To which my response is: No. lol

Just used the 1b as an example to show how large of an impact it actually makes. Its really not fair. Poll it.

Great job cluttering up the GE - those pictures in the newspost look horrendous.

Just what the game needed - a tax on everyone that only helps pvmers. I'm sure noobs love their lobsters and their coal deflated.

You're right. I'd remove the taxation cap and let the system take the full 1% off sales of high-end gear. It's only fair the richest players pay their fair share to support the system.

with that logic, why don't we just remove the taxation cap completely, and while we are at it, tax all players who have over 100m net worth at 50%-75% tax rate, in the ge. Make them pay their fair share, like you said, after all no one who earns all that money and puts in the man hours required and dedication should get to keep it all. Like you said, They ought to "pay their fair share" and subsidize for all the LAZY ge beggers and grifters who stand around not adding any value to the economy.

Lol, in EVE Online if you want to trade at certain market hubs you gotta pay your trade/sales taxes. You can only reduce your taxes if you earn favor with the faction who controls that market hub. They do not cap your tax burden because the item(s) you're selling are being sold over a certain price threshold like is being done with the GE.

Also, I fail to see how this subsidizes GE beggars. This isn't real life. This is Runescape. They get whatever some passersby are willing to give them. The grifters I can see perversely enjoying this. If they get taxed at the full 1% rate that'll put a dent in their profits.

@Great Dragon

Yet, in real life supply and demand is tempered by taxation or some other means of collecting trade dues. If you want to use somebody else's trade platform you gotta pay for the privilege or find some place else to sell stuff. The middleman isn't obligated to help you sell or transport goods if you refuse to pay him.

Having said that, I can see why the supply side of things would be negatively impacted. I'd go about using the taxed GP to remove items that are already overabundant.

well first of all this isnt eve online. so i dont know why we are even talking about this. Stick to runescape.

This isn't real life.
This is Runescape.
They get whatever some passersby are willing to give them. The grifters I can see perversely enjoying this.

I can lead a horse to water but I cant make him drink.
I never said this was real life
I know this is runescape. I never said I didn't know that.
That is completely false that they "just get whatever some passersby are WILLING to give them" They literally world hop and beg all day long, they have no interest in actually earning money themselves.

@Great Dragon

Yet, in real life supply and demand is tempered by taxation or some other means of collecting trade dues.

Like you said this isnt real life, so again, i dont know why you keep talking about it as if it is real life.

If you want to use somebody else's trade platform you gotta pay for the privilege or find some place else to sell stuff.

Um, somebody else's trade platform? whos trade platform is the grand exchange? is it yours? is it jagex's? I'd say its the players personally, but you'd probably disagree with anything I say so I'll just use the safe answer and just say its Jagex's.

We DO PAY to "use their trade platform" its called membership. And its gone up almost every few years like clockwork in price. So we do pay to use it.

The middleman isn't obligated to help you sell or transport goods if you refuse to pay him.

Again, What "middleman" are you refering to, the grand exchange? whos owns the grand exchange. Is it owned by the players, or jagex. If its owned by jagex then we already to pay to use this service. its called membership, and it unlocks more grand exchange slots, more quests, more skills, items and areas of the map. Double dipping and trying to charge twice?
taxes for the church, taxes for the mayor taxes for the sherrif, taxes for the king... its a wonder there is anything left to eat,
does it look like i've struck gold here?
