Demonic Ashes

You have stated the following: " Demonic Ashes would not work with Prayer altars or the Ectofuntus. "

Can you kindly leave the option to us the player by breaking them into 2 poll questions which clearly asks the following:

Question 01: Do you want the Demonic Ashes to work with Prayer altars?

Question 02: Do you want the Demonic Ashes to work with Ectofuntus?

Then if for example only the prayer altar passes just make them work with that only or both if both passes.

Like this, it will be up to us to decide and if it wins then it means that the players support it.

Thanks.

While I think the new teleports are great I don't think it is fair to have them replace existing spell books.

For example I occasionally like to do medium clues, so I use the Frenk's Castle teleport A LOT. I Also use the Lumbridge grave teleport regularly because it is closer to the swamp.

I don't like to pvp, but the Draynor manor teleport is convenient for pvp-ers trying to buy their ava's back (and also makes some very entertaining c engineer videos possible).

Please consider polling the replacement of existing teleport individually and consider replacing spells that are less frequently used. Salve Graveyard teleport for example. Is right next to a fairy ring, there is no need to also have a teleport go there. Arceuus Ape Atoll teleport is quite useless too in my opinion. Level 90 requirement for quick access to the Ape Atoll dungeon (where no one ever goes) and slightly faster access to a teak and mahogany tree (for which there are plenty other locations)

As for the other suggested spells, please just leave the spellbook alone. It is widely accepted that the arceuus spellbook is a skilling book only. You use it for prayer training and on your farm runs. We are OK with that.

The suggested spells add unnecessary complexity to combat and with damage over time and corruption effects I feel like we are slowing moving closer to EoC type content. I will be voting NO on every single suggested spell (even the skilling ones, the book is fine, please don't mess with it).

About the ashes. No from me also. Don't have a good reason, but I just don't like the idea (maybe because thats exactly how it is in RS3)

I appreciate the effort that went into this, but I really hope that everything in the poll will fail with the exception of the quest (wouldn't love, but also wouldn't hate the shazien rework)

Broo.. this is like the 24th new update you came out with when Group Ironman should have been out years ago. Just start working on group ironman, I dont see how it was announced to be released 3+ years ago at runefest and then we get updates like this instead.

I and, I presume, many others use the salve graveyard teletabs solely as an easy way of accessing the fairy ring, it's one of the closest to a fairy ring, next to the legends guild tele function of the quest cape.

Is it actually widely accepted as you say it is? And who is we? I'm certainly not ok with it.

The corruption mechanic is definitely stupid but I also think the book's current use of being only useful for prayer and teleports is also stupid. OTOH ancients also has a binary usage of only combat or teleportation, so it's not that strange to have a spellbook so limited in functionality.

I think it sounds awesome that you are trying to add new quests and lore to the game, but the teleport removals are a ridiculous idea. They have been there for so long and have various purposes and some of the other commenters also have written. Draynor Manor for instance has ALWAYS been the hotspot for farming belladonna, doing beginner clue steps (among others) getting the Ava devices etc. I think a removal of these would hit all people making use of these, while a new teleport spell could just be added alongside with these ALREADY EXISTING ones.

Not a fan of the Corruption mechanic nor the Resurrection spells. Corruption seems like a fairly complicated mechanic for a game as simple as Old School, in part due to buff/debuff timers not being visible. Thralls feel fairly dull and like something you'd be almost compelled to take with you if you're not going to be utilizing another spellbook, and restricting them to Kourend and Kebos would basically make them dead content.

I don't see why the old teleports would have to be removed to introduce a couple of new ones, rather just add them in without touching the old stuff. Judging by the feedback I've seen, the spells do see some use from certain player types.

I think you should be able to offer demonic ashes at the ectofuntus or a POH altar along with the new offering spells: it's still going to be more effort to use the former methods, but you get more experience for them, which seems like a fair trade-off. The level requirements seem a tad high though, especially for Sinister Offering.

Grasp and Demonbane spells I don't mind, I think it's alright to have some damaging spells in the Arceuus Spellbook. Although if the goal of Demonbane spells is to make Magic more viable against demons, I'd suggest merging the +25% damage/accuracy buffs to demonbane spells from Mark of Darkness into the spells themselves instead of having them on a separate spell you'd have to upkeep.

Shadow Veil, Mark of Darkness, Vile Vigour, Cleanse, Ward of Arceuus and Death Charge seem alright, though especially Mark could do with a bit more tweaking (instead of applying debuffs, have it buff the player; maybe combine the spell with Ward of Arceuus).

Dark Lure apparently will work on implings, but will it only prevent them from feeling or attract them to the player like the name would suggest?

PS. I assume all of the buff spells will have a notification similar to potions and Teleblock for when the effect has run out?

First of all, agree with Zoratix's statement about additionally polling the use of ashes on altars. It could be the more cost-effective to use the Offering spells, but faster to use the altars, like it generally is now with ensouled heads being more cost-effective and sacrificing bones to altar being faster xp/h.

Otherwise I think thematically the spellbook update is going in the right direction, but some of the spells do not really fit in OSRS. I don't really like the idea of Corruption too much, like previous respondents stated, it seems overly complicated for a game that has such cut-and-dry combat as OSRS does, especially if it will be functional if not good in PVP. Therefore, spells that are balanced around this Corruption mechanic, I would discard as well. Mark of Darkness could possibly work as a spell like Charge works for God spells.

With the Summon X spells, this indeed resembles Summoning, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I think Summoning failed a poll once, and this sentiment of regarding Summoning as un-OSRS-like still seems to remain in the community.

I do like most of the niche spell ideas, like converting your run energy and cleaning herbs. Shadow Veil, Dark Lure and Grasps also seem awesome. Grasps could be a cool addition to the array of binding spell options we have now (seems more focused on melee combat?). Special attack energy seems a bit of a large investment just to get 15% energy back, so not as interesting. Moreover, I really like the idea of Demonbane a lot, and since Demons have always had low magic defence, this makes sense. Especially nice, since Magic is often less useful in PVM, this could help.

Definitely a nice quest to round up all of the introductory questlines in Kourend. I 100% agree with the implementation of such a quest. Also love the Shayzien rework, definitely an area left behind in retrospect. Agility course could work, too.

In summation,

Quest ay
Shayzien ay
Niche spells ay
Demonbane ay
Corruption nay
Road to max ongoing!
