While leagues does seem interesting and like something I’d want to do to keep me from getting bored on the main-game, I am seeing a few issues:
The rng based tasks might be impossible for me to complete. As someone who is now working, I barely have time as it is to play the main-game and I know rng based tasks would frustrate me to no end.
Additionally, I am not pleased that this game has a time limit and is offering main-game rewards. Unless this is like a gauntlet-minigame within the main game itself, there should not be cosmetic-exclusive rewards coming from a separate game mode. That begs the question of why dead man mode didn’t have cosmetic rewards added to main game, or king of the skill, or any of our clan events at the very beginning of OSRS (though we do have those nifty trophies people can look at). It’s definitely leaving those game modes out.
On top of that, because there is a time limit, a completionist like me is not going to be happy that I can’t put in enough time to get those rewards first time around. That’s what started me on the slippery slope of quitting RS3, when cosmetic rewards that I liked were becoming more and more exclusive to access.
To put it simply, while I do like the idea, I think it needs to be hashed out better to appeal to more casual players (because they’re usually your long-term base), and it can’t be advertising cosmetics to main-game. You could run a risk of damaging some of your more long-term player base. I would suggest trying a minigame route if you’re really interested in implementing main-game rewards.
