Anyone having flashbacks to trade limits way back when? This does not inspire confidence in the long run for them to not extend it past the duel arena.
What's the damn point of having polls if something like this is not put up to the user base.
How about not giving a damn ban for using Rune Lite. But hey, why would someone use a client that is more polished and made for the convenience of the user.

Can we just agree that people who can't tell the difference between a tax IRL where the money is put back into the system via government spending vs an in game tax that takes gold out of the game forever should probably not be allowed to post on a forum?

Truly comical. Probably explains why they're 99 in everything. Too busy training 24/7 to stay in school. OMEGALUL

Waste of time trying to explain further or argue with the nonsense. The update is done. If you truly feel like you have no liberty or say, just leave. Funny part is you (no person in particular for purposes of not getting post removed) won't leave because you probably invested half your life into this game. (Walks off laughing)

Woah calm down scooter or we'll have to make u pay a tax to the swear jar

Ya i'm so bad at rs3 too so don't look me up on there pls!!!

I've been here longer than most, and one thing I have noticed is the "like it or leave" provocateurs always are the first to leave lol :P

Taking money away from players for no reason is bad mmkay?

Taxes are just like any other form of gold sink in the game, such as item repairs. They are useful because they are a way to control the amount of gold in circulation of the game. Unlike real life, where gold is reasonably finite, there is a constant influx of gold coming into the game in the form of monster drops and alchemy. What these means as a player, is if you quit the game for a year with 50 million GP in a year, if there is no gold sinks in the game, when you return in a year, that 50 million has much less purchasing power. The items you were eyeing before you quit are now twice as much. You still have the same amount of GP technically, but each piece is worth much less, economically.

Your phat is an example of an item that retains its purchasing power regardless of game inflation, because of its rarity and perceived value. Tell me, would you rather have sold that hat for the gp years ago? This is the problem with constantly inflating currency.

Additionally, while I'm not advocating for it, a GE trade tax could have some interesting side effects. Would make the people skimming margins for easy profits (essentially taxing the normal players buying items as they need them) much less likely to do so unless they could near guarantee profit or see an opportunity for investment. Additionally it might start a spark in some more old school w2 or fally park trading, since players wanting to sell big ticket items or huge piles of materials would be unwilling to pay the taxes, even if they were pretty small.

I do think it is a pretty radical change that would be very unpopular, so they shouldn't rush into it unless they think it's necessary. But gold inflation is a problem in many MMOs, where your account's value always feels like it's slipping down, even if you're actively playing.

Well yes, we do have to pay to use barrows, but thats always been that way, I remember back in 2006 when everyone just camped in fally park to buy and sell things, and it was so bad that everyone just remained poor

I don't see any way a gold sink in the ge would have many positive outcomes except to make people poorer (thats positive?) I worry that Jagex will think its a good idea and actually do it because people think its a good idea lol

How about they actually give us something for the gold instead?

Or they could just leave it alone because osrs gold is still insanely expensive and sought after compared to rs3 :P
