When getting 70 woodcutting I was surprised that my axe head didn't fly off even once, so I did a little googling on that, it turned out that the random event which sent axe heads and pickaxe heads flying was actually removed a few months before the server's date

I kind of liked that random because it highly favored the active players over the bots and afkers, however it was also slightly unfair because of the priority rules (IP) determining who gets the head. I hope they can put this random event on a vote once that is fixed somehow at some point.


Umm..I've had my pick axe head fall off several times since I've started OSRS.
Unless Nurmof is selling me low quality pickaxes, I'm pretty sure this random event is still in the game.

Well my source is the unofficial wiki, which anyone can edit, so I could be completely wrong

It lists 17 July 2007 as the removal date, and the page that says so hasn't been edited since June 2012. This would correspond with the fact that I haven't seen any heads flying despite a fair amount of woodcutting and mining. In all honesty, I simply can't be bothered at the moment to look up the news/patch notes from July 2007. That would give definitive confirmation, so I might do so later on

Sounds promising, I'm liking the fact that they are putting the community at the forefront with the OS servers. That and it seems like the community is actually on an upswing now with the removal of flowering. Next step is the bots, remove those and it could really flourish.

I couldn't agree with you more. With the introduction of the OSRS servers and the removal of gambling, I've seen a huge positive change in the community overall.

I couldn't agree more with you. With the introduction of the OSRS servers and the removal of gambling, I've seen a huge positive change in the community overall.

Yeah, it's quite pleasant going to somewhere that's somewhat populated and not having flowering adverts jammed down your throat for sure. That and for the most part the community has been 110% better since, whether it's minor chit chat or asking for advice you actually get a reply. Not a complete ignore or flame for something or other. It almost seems like the community as a whole is a lot more close knit than previously. It's the start of something great.
