What is a game without a community but a string of code? It is the community that binds the code together and makes the game and we wanted to let you know how you can get involved in the community.
We have seen a huge amount of feedback from you over the last few weeks about what you want to see the community doing and this is as important to us as getting the game updates right for you. Read on and let us know what you think of this.
Forums
We believe the forums are a major tool to allow the community to communicate with each other as well as a great place to find new friends. You have made it quite clear that you would like to see the Old School forums restructured to make them meet the community’s needs better. We agree and so we have made a thread where you can post how you would structure the forums and why. This thread will be open for a week, after which we will collate all your thoughts and present a solution for you to discuss the following week.
Talking about forums, if you have any ideas for content polls please post them in the Old School Feedback & Poll Suggestion forum. We have even included a sticky for all those little questions you would like to see polled if you don’t want to make your own thread.
Clan Chat Directory
Clan chats are a great way to get to know new people and for people to find help if they can’t quite remember where to get that final item for a quest. However, finding a clan chat channel can be very difficult if you don’t know where to look. So, we have introduced a Clan Chat Directory in the Clan Forums.
If you have a chat channel you would like to advertise, please do post it in this the Clan Chat Directory.
Moderators
One question I have been asked a lot is what is happening with P-Mods and F-Mods. If you are an existing P-Mod or F-Mod, you will be a moderator for Old School. We are monitoring how many active moderators there are in Old School and at the moment things look to be going well. However, soon we will start looking at introducing some moderators selected from the Old School players. We see a huge value in passionate players and we think there are some excellent candidates for moderators in this community.
If you are interested in becoming a moderator, then your best bet is to be cool and help your fellow players. Of course, being involved in the forums helps, but the primary thing is you must be passionate about the Old School community.
Clans
One of the most exciting things I have seen since joining the Old School team is the re-emergence of some of the old Runescape clans such as Damage Incorporated, British Elites, Reign of Terror, 'The' and a hundred other clans. Clans are a vital part of what makes Runescape great and we will soon start contacting the leaders of the clans and engaging in what they want to see from Old School and how we can deliver what they want.
Bot busting
Everyone hates bots, not only do they ruin the economy they also make it more difficult to collect resources. Now you can get even more involved with removing this menace by joining J-Mods in game to help take them out.
From next week you will find a full schedule of bot busting sessions which you are all more than welcome to join.
In the future...
We have had a lot of requests for in game events. We have some great ideas that we want to use such as live quests where you can fully interact with the quest characters, cryptic clue fests, PVP tournaments and many more. Please do let us know if there is an event you would like to see and we will see if we can make it happen.
We also want you to start thinking about the front page. What do you want to see on the front page? Do you want a news widget or social feeds? What this looks like is up to you.
Finally, we want to start building on the Old School wiki. These won't be normal wiki pages though, these will be videos. We think it will be really exciting if players find the information they want in a video. Of course, we will need your help to make that happen.
