please poll the ability for hunter animals to have the super rare chance to be used as pets for skillers and pures who do not boss and would love to have the cool new pets. this could be a new way of hunter or just a super rare chance you tame the animals. thanks and please give this a chance for poll.


I'm not a level 3 skiller myself on either game, but I would like this idea if it were polled. Closest thing I can compare it to in my mind would be the things like Abyssal demon head and big shark/swordfish/tuna for construction, very rare (rarer than 1 in 1000 for all stuffables) drops/resources you can get, and I think Chinchompas would fit great as a pet since they look sort of cute, or maybe salamanders. Only possible problem I could see is that hunter is really the only way that skills could get you a pet, since obviously fishing wouldn't work since the animals are aquatic (maybe a rare chance of fishing up a stray land turtle during fishing trawler?). Pets from minigames could be neat too, kind of like the whole thing with Soul Wars that let you use an unstuffed head and zeal to trade in for a pet of that monster.


Or, you know, just make the god bird eggs usable even without Summoning... :P

While on the topic of rare pets, do you suppose slayer monster heads (Basilisk head, Kurask head, etc) could be turned into pets? Of course, there would need to be another method since Soul Wars doesn't exist.

Regarding pets; for some of the more obvious bosses where baby versions are more sensible than a simple downscaled model, we'll do those. For instance the giant mole will drop a pink baby mole & callisto will drop a cub.

Thanks for taking such a serious stance to pets though. Some players think they're useless or a waste of time but I really like this method of getting pets, having an untradeable-item goal (something you can't just stake at the duel arena then buy from players) to work towards at a certain boss is fun and very rewarding when you get what you want, I spent 3 days at the Chaos Elemental to get my pet though I was fairly lucky in getting it after 70 or so kills. Also showing off the pet afterwards is fun :P Kinda disappointed about pets not being allowed into clan wars (assuming the free-for-all portal is included in this decision) but I guess it's fair.

Ronan, your initial post that gives us the link to the dev-blog is a little misleading:

I fear you might be getting people's hopes up, but I'm sure you mean numerous new boss monster pets.

John many players in the game including my self are extremely frustrated when you enter a stake in the dueling arena and clans that go on top of your fights making you miss click and causing you to lose please poll on removing other player options when you enter the duel arena thank you.

Add 30k drop warning to doom guy please. Don't poll it, just add it.


We don't update without a poll lightly but when we do, we always sit down and discuss what we're doing and why we're doing it. In this instance, and much in the same way we launched the authentictor, it's player security and integrity that's at stake so we took steps to improve that. Seldom is it necessary, but we'll always hold onto that option when it's justifiable.

The change made is by no means a final solution to the problem of players being scammed or lured. It simply gives you a second chance to properly think through what you're about to do and makes you aware of the possible value of your item(s).

It is very likely that we'll adjust the warning behavior over time but for now it will be remaining as it is because we do lose a lot of players through loss of items like this, if we can put a barrier up to catch a few of them as they fall, then maybe we can start to save some people.

To address the concerns regarding standardized spawn rates and boss monsters, I'll talk to Ash on Monday when he's back in the office but I believe we can leave those alone if you want us to.


Perhaps we could have a toggle option ;)
