It will be very busy at the moment as it's just come out. It should calm down soon.

You can only get Unidentified Minerals in the new area of the guild. You have a chance to obtain some every time you successfully mine a rock. The chances are:

Iron: 1/100
Coal: 1/60
Mithril: 1/40
Adamantite: 1/30
Runite: 1/20
Amethyst: 1/20 Old School RuneScape Content Developer

Did you know for instance you can get coal ores as a reward for Temple Trekking or Burgh de Rott Ramble minigames? Whenever I need "easy" coal I do play both. It is much quicker (and funnier), not to mention you get potentially extra stuff.

I've never really done the minigames, I've been mostly off game quite a while, and came back to old school on the promise of a non updated game which also didn't work out too well.

Do these minigames then provide the ore at twice the rate of normal mining? as you seem to be suggesting? That in itself also seems wrong. (am I sounding too old fashioned?)

It also seems to want to 'force' people into 1 area, as your getting twice the xp only in the mining guild, I might be a 98 miner, but I'm only going to be getting half that XP everywhere else so why would a person go somewhere else?

If there was a need to make the 'skill' more competitive why not do that for everyone, everywhere.

Or even better instead of copying RS3 and their increasingly easier to get content, scale other items back so they match the original content. You know like an Old School way of doing things. thinks Jagex should honour the results of the original Old School Poll

Do the people who are complaining even realize how bad normal mining is?

The ores respawning is not usually whats capping your xp rate. (it isnt 2x exp +7 mining boost is nice though.)
And if xp rates are what bother you shouldn't they remove tick manipulation methods for everything?

First of all, thanks for the updates! Mining is my favorite skill so it's great to see people in the guild again.

I strongly believe the gloves should degrade overtime. After you have enough minerals for one pair of each gloves, there isn't anymore need to go to the guild and get more minerals. Having them degrade would bring people back to the guild again and again. (Which is worth the benefit of the gloves)

Also, I hope with this update, mining bots will be closely watched. Otherwise the mining guild will become another bot-ridden place like the hero's guild.

Thanks for not listening to detail about the mining guild. Now we have no risk all reward runite rocks that people will be botting on their level 3 accounts with their gloves that have a chance to respawn the rocks. I wish you would listen to feedback on your forums & reddit more often other than whiners about dumb crap like Quartz not tuff enuff..
