I just can't believe, that all of the rioting, KKK cosplaying, Jmod harassment and RACISM ended up being over a rainbow leprechaun event ...

At first I would've agreed that advocacy outside the game would've been more tactful - since all of the rioting and all of the hate - I've changed my mind.

It's exactly because of the reactions we've seen at W Fally that a "pride" themed event was necessary in the first place.

It just pisses me off when people pretend this is an issue of politics. You know deep down inside this nothing to do with the politics or the polling system... "
I play RS to escape the real world issues
" really just screams to me "
Keep me away from the gays, I play RS to escape the real world, where the gays are!.
"

Equally amusing is the classic "
it's a children's game
" argument.

Apparently making a rainbow scarf is more damaging to childhood innocence than exposure to racist homophobe cosplayers shouting "Kill all Nig****" and "Gays should noose themselves"

Who's really thinking of the children here
???

Let's be real: The people rioting and bitching non-stop about this are more child-like today than they were 10 years ago... WHEN THEY WERE ACTUALLY CHILDREN .

I for one welcome the event, and to those who would 'quit' over it - don't the door hit your ass on the way out!

Yikes. I'm no stranger to people stroking their own ego through virtue signalling, but this is pretty over the top.

Who are you even directing all of these hysterics and strawman arguments towards? Have you ever been diagnosed with histrionic personality disorder (HPD), by chance?

Everyone who appears to have a problem about the LGBT event needs to get a grip. If you really have such strong views against a common part of today's society needs to do everyone a favor and stop playing this game. Rid it of pathetic small minded individuals.

Nicely done Jagex. You have, essentially, politically charged your own community against itself. I haven't seen the player base this split since EOC was released. I for one have already unsubbed. Over sights this big are what cut your player base in half.

Well thank you for promoting that pride event in Runescape too. It really convinced me that I will never ever pay again a cent to Jagex.

What I would like in the future is to make things 100% clear from the beginning so that we don't pay any more cash for promoting your 'pride' events in a game that is played by little children (including one of my little brothers).

Good riddance - and please - if you really think the in-game environment was so "perfect" for children and this event just happened to ruin that you've really been living under a rock.

I don't see why people are so up in arms about this event? How does being gay affect anyone else? Let people do what they wanna do, after all it's not harming anyone... It's quite simple really, if you don't want to do the event, don't do it.

Since when did our community turn so toxic? :/

P.S. To the Jmods - the majority of us appreciate the time and effort you guys put into this game, don't let the toxic part of the community make you feel less appreciated

ITT: A straight, white teenage girl uses emotional non-arguments you'd expect from religious zealots (ie: 'you're morally incorrect/inferior to me therefore you're wrong')

It's not even the LGBT community that's a problem. They're not, at all. Gays are not a problem, and they were never a problem. 99.9% of OSRS accepts this.

It's the utterly ignorant, braindead, and sanctimonious SJWs that feel the need to crusade on their behalf that are the problem. And unfortunately, these kinds of events attract these people like moths to a flame. People like Aurella come here just to pre-emptively label everyone "homophobes" and "bigots" so they can feel better about themselves, meanwhile starting shitstorms in the comments. These internet white knights aren't gay. They're just sanctimonious, self-serving twats that probably, in reality, couldn't give less of a toss that they're making the actual gay community in-game look terrible in the process of their aggressive and hypocritically intolerant rambling all over the forums and Reddit.

It is a very political agenda and sends a big "go away" message to the people like me who have contrary traditional views.

The hidden post above was not even criticism of the update, it was simply offensive and has no place here.
Returning to your own concern, I'd hope you'll find if you look at the event that it doesn't push anything nearly as explicit as many players have assumed. We don't consider inclusivity to be a political stance, just a simple note of tolerance and respect to all our community. But if you'd rather disregard the event, we understand. And you'll note that these little events haven't previously been polled; Midsummer, Big Mo, goblin raids, cryptic clues, even the WWF cat thing that actually was political, and players seemed a lot more open to accepting those.

You're delusional if you think people not wanting something in the game, is not valid criticism. He and I both believe that this kind of content doesn't belong in RuneScape. It IS politically charged. Your push for tolerance without asking the playerbase whether we want controversial content in the game that divides the playerbase starkly, causes huge amounts of arguments, is not doing anything for tolerance and acceptance.

The Rainbow symbol is clearly a political symbol. It has been the official logo of groups of people advocating for legal rights.

We need to have polls before we have any new events. The Mods don't care if we don't like it, obviously. If this were polled, would it pass? If it wouldn't pass, why would you add this into the game?

I'm sure every other event you've done in the past would pass a poll. This event caused riots in Falador for days, why do you think that is? Is our criticism not valid? Why are you simply brushing off our viewpoints as "not real criticism?"
