and a food source for higher tier lifeforms such as small fish and whales.
We don't see

complaining that they are being eaten and used as

, when they are pretty much sustaining the majority of the planet's lifeforms.

of Runescape. They harvest and create resources that everyone can benefit from, they attract the attention of
more advanced species (pkers)
which in turn attract the attention of
mammoth sized monsters (clans).
You cannot catch a fish without bait.
You cannot lure an animal into a trap without bait.
A vending machine cannot fall on a human, if a human doesn't try to shake it to get free stuff.
You cannot have a reaction without an action.
