You remember why the real Runescape went from 500k People on to Maby 50k? because the game got to easy. if you want a easy game that you can buy every skill GO PLAY EOC AKA RUNESCAPE3 AKA Ruinedscape AKA RS3. if you want to play the REAL RUNESCAPE get on 2007. Trading oldschool way is like a skill in its own way, not trading a million bots on a machine that you don't even know who your trading.

Imagine this; I need wines of zamorak. No one is selling so I run up to them and someone is already there collecting them. I ask him, if by chance he is selling any. He says yes but waiting til he gets a bunch. I say great i add him. he pms me when he has his amount and is still pming me to see what I need now. A friend. he's kinda new so i help with knowledge of the game, where to find stuff or whatever.
That is like the old days, find a guy who collects what you need and keep him added. I rarely use Zyb.
I have played this game for almost 10 years and not quit. I couldn't get the hang of eoc but i was 99 in all combat so i didn't need. Then new quests started coming out I couldn't do because of the cb, i was about to quit when rs07 came into vote.
The main page talks of nostalgia and history of the game but you post ge players dont know how to play. No one tries buying something for hours, what a ridiculous thing.
But i dont get what you guys are talking about, the vote is 77% for the ge

There's your problem. This "friend" you have is a person living miles away from you, you've never met them in real life and probably never will, and don't even know their real name. This ideology of having "friends" online is a huge misconception and an affront to the term "friend". You have fellow players who enjoy the same game as you, but my "friend" and I went to school together, grew up together, go to the movies together and talk IN PERSON about things together. Making friends and having a close community are two totally different things...

Many of you are posting without reading previous comments or the developer's blog, so I'll lay it out for you as has the smarter player, Enter Walrus, has already stated:

The GE is an automated machine that has an input and an output slot for your items/money.
The Trading Post will be like a notice board, where players will enter the item which they are selling and provide their IGN (contact information) for othe rplaeyrs to be able to meet with him/her in order to purchase goods.

The fact that many of you are whining about how this will ruin 07 don't seem understand economics and business very well. Now, how many of you are in college? I'dlove to know, because then we can take this matter to a higher level on how it will positively or negatively affect the Runescape economy.

From previous years, the GE itself WAS NOT the cause of the economic collapse, because if I remember correctly, back in 2010, everything about the GE ad the market was flourishing. It didn't begin to decline until the EoC and the bot nuke, which not only drastically decreased item numbers but got rid of a massive percentage of the player base.

The problem wasn't the GE, it was the players' reliance on the current system that had been set up, and it could only function WITH bots AND gambling. It's what we had adapted to.

This trading post will be a new adaption to the game, but will not drastically change anything other than time consumption. @Walrus, keep tellin' em, man. They need to hear what the don't want to hear.

I can guarantee that if, and I do say if, this system is implemented there will be no change to the economy as drastically as many of you have foretold. Don't believe me? Go vote yes and we'll see who's right in the upcoming weeks.

As long as Question 4 doesn't pass 75%, then yes, it will only be a notice board.

I don't think the second one will pass, and that's a good thing. Personally I'm going to enjoy seeing how this notice board works. I think it's a really cool idea.

Zurad, if the trading post is implemented into the game the GE will be soon to follow.

It's sad to see osrs die after living such as short life, its more than painful to see the game you love die twice...

You make it sound as though trading takes some sort of skill and is hard to do at the moment. It isn't. It just takes lots of pointless time standing around trying to buy items. Most of the people you buy items off are trading bots anyway, so I don't see your problem.

I'm scared, too, right now. But if the trading post passes (the way the poll looks right now) then it passes in a way that makes it like having zbz in game. And we will have clearly voted down having the system do its own trading. You can't have a GE that doesn't do trade, so no, the GE won't be to follow. Don't lets get their hopes up.

Many people make it sound like trading means pointless time standing around trying to buy items. They claim it's better to post an offer in the GE so they can "go on and enjoy the real game content" grinding on bosses or grinding a skill or w/e. If you want that convenience you can post on the forums instead of standing around yelling at people. Go on doing what you do, what is the problem
with trade
?

There isn't a problem with trade. World 1 Varrock is a problem, and the old-school team is trying to fix its symptoms because too many people won't pay attention to the fact there are a different good area in the game for each item, they just flock to where the GE used to be. And the forums have problems, the biggest one being that people have old offers up while they are offline. You can see frustration with that in the poll results. We want to see offers from people who are actually online not be WASTING OUR TIME. But that still doesn't mean we need a machine to do the trading for us.

One of the things that bothers me about trading right now is that I have to go to one specific place to trade, usually Varrock West Bank, and it's often a complete chore because most of what I like to do is on the opposite side of the world.

So what if there were multiple trading posts, say one in each town that has a bank, that you could conduct trades through? Say I'm in Falador running Air Runes and I want to buy more Rune Essence. I look on the Falador Trading Post and see that someone's selling at a price I like. I either contact them through PM or maybe use a command like "Offer to Buy". That person I'm buying from gets a notification saying that someone wants to buy their Rune Essence. They're over in Yanille. It's not a problem meeting up because they can just go to Yanille's Trading Post and open up a trade window with me while I'm in Falador. We negotiate the trade and, boom, we're done.

Something like that would be super nice.
