I think we've got a lot of scope to use the bank settings panel for things like this, so that new buttons can be kept out of the way. It's presumably not something you'd need to click all that often anyway, but it's more accessible than an NPC.

The thing about the concept screenshot I made for the idea, was that I created it before you posted the picture with the padlock button on Twitter, but I posted it to reddit after you had revealed it. Which is why people had (legitimate) concerns with cluttered ButtonScape.
Had I created the concept after your twitter post, I would defnitely have placed it on settings instead. You're exactly right in that it wouldn't need clicking often. You'd essentially decide "Now I mine at MLM" toggle it on, then toggle it off when done.
Also, speaking of the Padlock Button, if I could give one piece of feedback for this update, it would be to move that to either side of the interface. If you want a visual reference on how that would look, I could send you my "button" concept on Twitter, just let me know

It's my personal opinion that if you were to allow a button or NPC to automatically generate junk for us, it would probably make things slightly less interesting.
Personally I like that those horrible satchels from Tower of Life have a sort of use, even if it's just as a filler for Jmods testing bank updates. That's not why they were originally created, of course. In fact it's rather hard to identify the design goals of those satchels.
