I posted an idea for This exact placeholder idea last year sometime on one of my accounts but can't find the thread :( Anyway really hope it was the cause of this spark lol

It's the kind of thing that's been bouncing around for a while, yeah, so maybe. Back when we had Mod Krista in the team, she and I agreed on this implementation approach as a possible way to do it. I gather RS3 can't do it the same way we did because they've got a lot more item definitions in the game, so their staff will have to come up with a more elaborate approach.

Mod Ash, is there a way to create a placeholder for an item which I currently do not possess?

No, but I'm totally up for having that added.
Also we've had requests for an option to generate placeholder junk to fill your bank, so that people can make 'Deposit-Inventory' do exactly what they want it to do.

To be honest, I've just talked with my clan,

We think the placeholder set up is good, but it will probably get a bit annoying. Nobody'll want to keep the Lock on, because it looks ugly when we simply withdraw the odd quest item etc.

If Lock is off, we'll have to right click every time we want to place a placeholder for each item we withdraw. That right click will get annoying.

Is there not a way to permanently 'remember' which items we've put a placeholder on?

We might be able to make the game store a short list of items as "the ones for which I always want placeholders", though it couldn't be a very long list without creating server load when the game has to check all your clicks against it.

The place-holder update seems kind of useless at the moment. Is there anyway to make the place holders stay even after refilling the item? At the moment if you create a place holder, then re-insert the item the place holder will disappear. Which makes withdrawing single slot items no different that having two, of that same item, but leaving one of them in bank to "hold the place." In the end, organizing your bank is actually more work, because you're having to re-establish a placeholder rather than just withdrawing one item.

Edit: Maybe there's something I'm missing, but that's just from what I can see at the moment

Maybe you'd like to turn on the toggle button at the bottom of the screen, so that items always leave placeholders when you withdraw them, without you needing to right-click specially.

Aw, was collecting green satchels yesterday, thinking a handful of them could generate infinite placeholders to fill my bank, but unfortunately those satchels are too smart. This was their one shot at being useful...

Anyway, regarding the "Bank Junk Filler" button I suggested last time, Ash. I posted it on reddit and the reception for the idea itself was very good, with a couple hundred upvotes. However, some of the feedback I got was that people didn't want more buttons on the interface...

So I was thinking, how about an NPC we can pay to fill our bank with an unstackable object, with the option to pay him to take them all back again? So for example, a sketchy farmer at falador farm who will sell us rotting cabbages at 30gp each, all going straight to the bank (So 400 spaces to fill, times 30gp = 12k, etc). When we're done training RC or whatever, we could convince the guys to take them all back, but he'd ask to be paid the same amount again.

So the same "fill bank with junk quickly" concept, but with no need for a button, and even a small cash drain.

Haven't tried that out, but if I have a bank full of placeholders and I try to deposit a new item (that doesn't already have a placeholder), would it be possible?
