The question that I have is - they mentioned that combat will be optional etc.
That level 3 skillers are able to train this skill as well.

But what about 10 HP Pures?
What if a 10 HP Pure wishes to do both the skilling aspect and combat? (E.G: Using cannons, will it give HP exp too?)

They said that before you gain any combat exp you will get a clear message about that, so you should not be worried in getting exp by accident... But if you will be able to use them, i don't know that tho.

I'm getting really tired of all these people saying "This ruins Old School", "Let's keep Old School Oldschool", "These updates should be for RS3!" and saying it will lose the touch of Old School...

What is Old School?

Let's be completely honest here, the majority of players who play Old School is because we don't like the RWT and Combat system in RS3... I also bet you that the majority of you didn't quit RS3 until either of those two came into the game! So let's stop with this "Old School must be the way it was" bullcrap!

I understand some people play this game purely for nostalgia, but far more people play this game because they like the old combat system and has no RWT. The only people who would be against new content and updates are people who just play casually and at a very slow pace and don't dedicate more time into the game. If a game doesn't update and no changes are made, the game will get boring, when the game gets boring, people quit, it's that simple and applies to all games, not just Runescape.

More people play Old School then RS3 currently according to the numbers (Yes I know people splash and NMZ afk) and if there was a decent sized team who could bring out weekly updates for new content this game would be A LOT bigger then it currently is. I remember back in the day when I and many others used to be on here just waiting for Mod Emily to post an ETA or to let us all down on Tuesday mornings, new content is what brings life to the game. There will never be an update that everyone wants, but I can assure you that all people against an update end up liking it, like Dungeoneering for an example.

Anyways, long story short, it's been 3 years now, this game needs to start bringing in new content, new skills, new level'ing methods for current skills and new quests / areas to bring it new life at a more consistent rate or people will just end up getting bored, it's not "07scape", it's pre-EoC and RWT scape that people want

Question:

When you are in an sailing instance and you have to go, or want to attend some friend's 99 party or something like that. At that point you want to leave the instance, my question is what will happen to your items and progress? In particular the items that you have stored in your chest on your ship?

An idea I had was that of course if you died or your ship sunk for whatever reason you would lose all your possessions and storage (an on board chest perhaps). Why not have these chests or possessions plunder able.

My idea could be a far reach area where people's ship wrecks could be accessed in a random event or location with a chance for anyone lucky enough to profit from someone's demise. Perhaps this could be included in a PvP type event where the winner might earn this or another idea maybe a solo challenge for players to overcome monsters and puzzles in order to successfully have a chance at a players lost treasure.

Historically in real life ship wrecks are a magnet for treasure hunters, so why not?

2 problems:

1.
i've said this before and i'll say it again, port tyras has more and harder quests needed to reach it, one of them being the infamous underground pass ; burgh de rott takes only a handful of low requirement quests. If you keep port tyras at lvl 50 then 90% of players who have not yet done the quests to access it will simply skip over it. Burgh de rott does not deserve the lvl 90 spot.

2.
Add sailing shops where you can buy spece*ic low-level items such as planks, cloth, nails and other needed items. But only the materials required for lower levels. If you do not add a way for these simple low level materials to be easily accessible then prices for even the simplest components will rise to the point where it's impossible not to compare this skill to construction, only trained if you have money or vast amounts of time to spare.

Also, i guess you can only sail your ship that much? will it be repairable or do you just have to wear it down until it's broken and build a new one? Would the waiting times when building ships/adding details be comparable to those of farming? Can we smith/craft certain elements for the ships ourselves before putting them on ships? If so will these be tradeable or not?

NO
to: dragon crossbows, overly powerfull new amulets/rings/bracelets (seriously? the new boots have just been added, please just stand back and hold it for a while)

keep those new dragons inside the sailing skill, do NOT under any circomstances add them to anything anywhere besides the sailing dungeons.

YOU SHOULD POLL THE SAILING SKILL IN PARTS! PEOPLE MIGHT LIKE THE IDEA OF SAILING BUT NOT THE IDEA OF CERTAIN ASPECTS. FIRST POLL WHETEHER OR NOT SAILING SHOULD BE ADDED(add that details of the skill will be polled for if the skill makes it in)

my guess is your ship will simply return to port with all items still stored in the chests. The dungeon you were exploring will be gone though (instanced)
