When corp was released was it mentioned that only spears do full damage? I see no mention of spectrals so I assume when people get to the point in the boss where spectral gets buffed they get notified of it? Otherwise there is no way people know there are said buffs unless they follow Q&A's and Twitter.

I don't recall, but the situations wouldn't be so similar anyway because the corp was copied from something players had seen before.

Anyway, for the benefit of players who haven't seen discussion about this before, the spectral shield has a special use in this fight. However, it may not necessarily be the best shield to use, and it's certainly not obligatory.

This is because players have frequently asked us to give the spectral shield a specific use; it already had a higher magic defence bonus than the elysian, but relatively few boss situations make that useful. So it was suggested on a livestream that we give it a use against one of the new bosses, and we agreed to consider it.

Stat-boosts should work like they do against any other monster's Slayer requirement.

You can't boost your stat to get an assignment, but you wouldn't have needed a stat-boost to get a hellhound task anyway.
