Hey guys,
I'm one of the web developers who will be working on this should we decide to go ahead. Myself and Mod Biggs have read an extensive amount of your feedback and we are listening. I admire the passion you guys have towards OSRS - it is certainly part of the backbone that makes the game so successful.
Though I would nip a few questions here that appear to have come up a few times...
"Will we get a separate forums with this update?"
No - however; we will at producing a matching skin for the current forums that will apply only to the OSRS area so you guys can have a theme that will match the rest of the OS website.
"This is just the RS3 website - why are you doing this?"
It is in no way our intention to make this website look like RS3. Yes we will change the wizard and turn the nav bar at the top brown. The main reason for a similar top bar is that it is consistent across RS and Chronicle. Keeping the navigation consistent provides a better UX. Also the horizontal nav is slowly becoming a web standard and also adapts very well on mobiles. Also I promise it will have far less JavaScript so it will be much much faster than RS3 and even the site you have now.
"Why even bother making it responsive? Nobody visits the site on their phone"
This is actually slightly untrue. We do have some mobile traffic but really any website designs that does not adapt responsively to mobiles is poor. More and more people will skim the web on their phone over the coming years and we should be looking to accommodate that now.
But again this is purely feedback for a TAPP project and not something that we are definitely going to do. The guys working on this are not game content developers so this will have no impact on your gaming experience
