I began in '05 and loved the Grand Exchange. I voted for it to come into OSRS because I believe it was (and now is) a wonderful update.

I started in 2004 and watched it do the same bad things to RS3 that it's doing to Old School now. Here are a few points explaining why the GE is bad for the game:

-The GE draws players who would otherwise be roaming the map to one location in an already well populated area of the map, Varrock. No longer can you be in the middle of nowhere and run into people gathering obscure resources or walk into a less used bank and find skillers to talk to. They're all at the GE now. Basically the game feels empty now unless you're in Varrock. This kills player interaction in a pretty big way.

-The GE drastically lowers the prices of resources and their products. This lowers the profits of skillers and makes skills like fletching and crafting much more expensive to train (where they were once profitable...). Basically if you want to be making the best money in the game, you'll now have to be doing combat. Skilling should be a legitimate way to play the game, but it's becoming less and less so with the GE and monster resource drops making it less and less viable. The money earned by the wealthiest skillers will never touch that of the best PvM'ers.

-Aside from just resources, prices in general will be unnaturally altered. Bots can easily dump massive amounts of items into the market and price manipulation clans will form.

Resting devalues Agility as a skill Chris. Jagex have luckily found a nice way of solving this, as you can always buy Stamina Potions instead. :)

In my personal opinion the armor is overkill... It looks more detailed than torva and has a more RS3 Esq feel, and RS3 ruined everything with the new look because it made it look like a new game that did have that simplistic feel. If you made it a bit darker and toned down the overkill on the shapes. Also the sword doesn't need to look like a model of RS3 bandos gs symmetrically flipped.

I don't really recall seeing people roaming the map much before the GE came, even if they were, I don't see why it matters. Personally, I think the GE creates more player interaction. Personally, I experienced much more negative trading interactions than positive ones. I got tired of having to deal with low-lifes who wanted to haggle, who scammed, or who were just plain rude. Now, with the GE, we have a central place to trade, skill, and socialize, without being at each other's throats.

Resource prices are hurt, but frankly, skilling is almost always doomed to be an inferior money making method compared to PvM.

The old system liked bots more, I would think. If you wanted 60,000 dragon bones, who were you going to buy from? The guy who had 23 from his Slayer task, or the guy who *somehow* had 20,000 for sale?

I'm definitely not a fan of the spikey sword. I feel the armour should better represent the totality of the skills involved in getting it. It should show achievement through experience and not just doing tasks to get your fancy decorative melee armour with spikes all over. Perhaps a less "evil knight person" and more "worldly experience person" kind of thing.

By that I mean perhaps the individual pieces of armour could have a little flare that represents each area. Varrock could have a practical armour with a little bear flare, bear hide or claws, anything really. Falador obviously needs an extravagant piece of plate armour. Lumbridge should have some handy legs. Why Lumbridge? Because it makes more sense to put your bottoms on first (in life). :D

However, I'm excited to get my achievements. I just think the armour needs to be revised badly.

PS Can I do a co-op with the OSRS team as an international student? You don't have to pay me I'll just get another job. I'm friendly and hard working

There were people roaming. I would run into people doing various things while out cutting magic logs, questing, etc. That happens a lot less now. The big thing though is that there aren't people in banks anymore. I liked to talk to people while skilling in various banks like Draynor and Seers. Can't do that anymore. Player interaction should not be limited to the GE; it should be something that exists across the entire map. "Spontaneous Interaction" I guess is no longer a thing.

It certainly is now, but it didn't have to be. In the first year or so of Old School I made a lot of money skilling; it was reasonably competitive back then. There's no reason skilling needs to be inferior. This game would be a lot more interesting if more than a small fraction of the skills were useful and/or profitable.

I disagree. Yea, bots still sold their goods no problem before the GE but it didn't affect prices nearly as much as it does now.

Honestly, it wasn't a bad thing that small quantities of items weren't sell-able though. It encouraged people to use those items rather than slap them on the GE for however low a price it takes to sell instantly. This is why the price of things like emeralds (of which I had many millions invested in :| ) crashed as soon as the GE launched. Again, those low resource prices aren't good for the game.
