Think someone has some research to do, I was there for the whole thing whats your reference? I was even there for the mass quit which was the bank drop parties in falador and varrock square where phats santas dragon platelegs and chains were all getting dropped along with many other rares that many people did just to prove the seriousness of quiting because they were so ****** off....the ge wasn't even a part of the problem they were ****** off because the wilderness was taken away that was ENTIRELY the issue

Edit: Actually, I'm done. It's quite clear if the G.E doesn't pass Jagex will keep putting out polls for something akin to the Grand Exchange until it passes.

When the GE was implemented in early 2008 making money became so boringly easy I one day took out everything from my bank that was also for freeplay and all my money and held a dropparty on a ftp world. Earned it back through the GE with in a couple of days... And I'm not an 'every opportunity to earn xp and/or money wasted is a criminal offence' player, yet even with that laid back attitude and fairly low lvl's getting my money back was child's play. That's why voted NO to GE.

Also, I still remember a post from another player about a year after the GE had entered RS. He had put a fairly special item on the GE and the player who bought it happend to be on the same world as he. He saw the happy response of the buyer telling his friends excitedly about the item he had finally been able to buy. He wrote it gave him a happy feeling and how he actually missed this feedback from the players you traded with earlier. The GE had made it all so cold and distant and had taken away something special from the game.

Ah well, bring in the merching clans, so the players who voted YES can complain about how other people enjoy playing with what the YES-voters thought would be their toy... Welcome Buyscape!

that's nice when 10k people quit for the lose of the wilderness the issue wasn't the ge because they returned the wilderness and guess what THEY ALL CAME BACK! so as for the loss of a few due to the GE is not because the GE ruined OSRS but because people don't want to lose their scamming abilities along with their outlandish pricing. People already use the tradepost and before that zybez price guide for the SAME EXACT THING AS THE GE IS!!!! so why are you acting like its an issue because it crushed interaction? when I trade people all it is is world hop then grab the cash get the items and leave barely any interaction there.

two hundred thousand would be online back then.

The numbers right now are 71k many of which are in the lobby. Imagine the number back in 07 if it had a lobby.

ROTFL! your stupid the trade limit was after the fact there bud! I REMEMBER THE TRADE LIMIT! where were you during the removal of the wilderness? probably weren't even playing RS until after BH was MONTHS into its short lived fly, or maybe even after they came back but the trade limit was introduced near the same time as the BH was introduced so please troll someone elses post

I'm a strong believer that the G.E is needed but on no account should it make items have a min-max value. It ruined the trading and bargaining part of runescape when you could only buy an item between 45k-65k and no more or less. It also made it impossible to trade things to and from accounts and lend items out to friends or lend money to friends etc. this would make me quit as it is just turning into rubbish with setting limits on what you can do in game.

yes 10 k people quit that was when RS was at a group of aprox 60k players to 72k and the amount of people online then was full worlds all across with the exception of maybe 5 worlds so yes keep acting like you know the facts because the truth remains that the fall was not the GE but removal of the wilderness...But I do have to agree the GE did remove the feeling of making someones day by selling them an itemfrom sterreveerle's post I actually have to say that is something that cant be authenticated.
