So I was going to use keys on one of my alts on the rainbows end event. Because I don't care about xp on this account, I decided to convert everything I didn't want to oddments and just buy more spins with oddments until I ran out.
The problem is, that there was a 50% oddment sale on spins, putting the price of 1 spin at 225 oddments and this is extremely busted. I was able to gain oddments by doing this method, theoretically I would be able to spin nonstop until I got a lucky item that I wanted. I didn't want to abuse this obvious oversight so I stopped, but I could of very easily abused this if I wanted.
I'm posting this a day after the rainbows end event has ended so no one else could abuse this oversight. My suggestion with this event is don't do an oddment sale on keys. It's very busted if you can profit oddments by just converting everytime. If I really wanted to I could of used keys nonstop until I got a lucky item that I wanted.
I really hope this gets the attention that it needs and isn't possible the next time this promo goes on, this is a pretty big oversight in my opinion.

To get 225 oddments cashout in 1 spin, the player has to hit a purple prize in every spin. The odds is so low that it is hardly "very easily abused" as you claimed.
Good that you said "theoretically"... yes, "theoretically" I can roll a dye from every clue scroll, but I certainly can't say I "could of very easily abused clue scrolls if I wanted".

I can see you're new to treasure hunter and aren't aware of how many oddments you can get from uncommons, rares, etc. especially when you include the multiplying factor.
I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with the minigame before commenting further on this thread, thanks.

Perhaps you are new rather. Even if you have 7x multipliers unlocked, the chance to get 7x is still very low, and 7x of the normal 20 oddments cashout are still 140 oddmenst.

I'm gonna have to agree with Dilbert2001 on this. You're more likely to lose oddments in the long run rather than have a net gain of them. I know because I bought keys with oddments back when the price for one key was 250 (This was before Jagex jacked up the price of keys to the current price on a regular basis and before the oddments conversion buff).
If memory serves, I spent a total of over 50 keys on a previous run of Rainbow's End. I didn't get anything good nor did I receive any of the advertised rainbow-themed prizes. Just the normal TH fare you'd expect like lamps, stars, magic paper, etc. At best, you'd be able to use the oddments you received (or converted for) to buy more keys for ever diminishing returns.
In all honesty, I view this promo with disdain. Every other promo I've done has given me at least ONE prize exclusive to the promo in question (even if it's only event currency). It's like this promo gives me the middle finger every time.
Edit: Yea, I do get the multipliers. However, they're now worth 0 oddments so I still consider it a loss!

Well, Jagex is not stupid. This 75% off oddments promotion is the carrot on a stick. While it is very nice for the players to get better bang for the buck, they will never eat the carrot without spending their keys.

Hi, I want to come to the forum to brag and feel special for figuring out something that i thought was a problem but really wasnt instead of just making a bug report because i like attention and lots of it
Fixed it for you.
Clan:
The statistical odds of someone being able to roll 7X reds, or purples consecutively is very unlikely to happen. Assuming the odds are 0.1% for purple and 1-5% for red respectively, the idea of someone using TH "indefinitely" is probably less likely to happen than winning the lottery.
On to the title of this thread; I do agree that the rainbow's end promo is "busted" in the sense that it is too generous, and offers copious amounts of XP. For Treasure Hunter key buyers, it is probably one of the most generous promotions with the ability to win up to 7X stars, lamps, etc.
Personally, I'd like to see Jagex release the Rainbow's end promo less frequently. I'd like to see the removal of some of the rainbow tokens from the promo so that the value of these tokens has the ability to recover; many of these tokens have become "junk" as a result of oversaturation and continual reintroduction. I think Jagex should retire the rainbow amulet, bow, and halo from the promotion and over time add new rainbow tokens and remove the older ones which continue to become more and more common.
