What am I missing about this current treasure hunter event?

While I am super frustrated that it exists, I'm curious what everyone else thinks of it, too.

From my perspective

Super clunky...It shouldn't take 5-15 seconds to roll through each key, to sit there and decide what you want to do with your rewards, when most of the rewards end up being "what's the lesser of the evils".

Seems like the lesser of the evils, because

A) It seems very heavily weighted to only give out white and yellow level rewards, so either way you just want to get it over with and move onto the next roll

B) Even if we want to focus on the white / yellow rewards, you removed the option to freeze specific types of rewards (e.g. we are forced to take all skill locked stars and lamps, instead of homing in on the skills we actually want by freezing ones that we don't want)

C) What confuses me the most is the timing of this, though.

Normally, if a sub-par Treasure Hunter Promo rolls through, ya suck it up, wait it out, and save your keys for the next promo, because normally you guys have a good habit of rotating every few days.

BUT THIS TIME....you locked in a really bad promo during a time that you know people are wanting to stack BXP to get the most out of DXP, and you locked it in for 2 weeks, making it so that this promo won't be over until 3-4 days into DXP week.

Like seriously why?

Also, other players, what am I missing? What makes this promo so worth it? Are there features of it that I'm overlooking?

You all failed to see there is no random element in this promotion. You see the prize and the next one too. Didn't a lot of players say they don't want RNG element?

There are definitely RNG elements to this promo -- that Second slot prize has to come from somewhere, and although you can "plan" your powerups accordingly, it's still RNG based and you have little control over changing it until it hits the primary slot. At that point, your only option is to add a powerup to it (all RNG based), or to completely reroll it (also RNG based). It's not like you pick the prize as it hits either slot, so still 100% RNG.

However, that's just me arguing semantics, I guess, because I personally don't mind RNG when it comes to Treasure Hunter...it's just that this time it seems that it's been purposefully shifted because I am getting a -TON- more whites and yellows than normal, and I'm betting they did it because of how you have the occasional option on the left side for a power up that Upgrades Rarity...but it's a rare roll, so it's not really a fair balance.

I, for one, am glad this promo is useless. We have too many op promos as it is for people to spend money on.

Yeah yeah yeah. Take your seat in the back with the other elitists who think that just because they wanna play the game the hard way that means everyone should. It's 2020. Games aren't meant to be a grindfest anymore. Some of us just want to throw a few bucks at the game every now and then to speed up the grinding, so that when we have time to sit down and play, we can actually spend that time enjoying the game (bossing, quests, etc), instead of coming home from work and starting just another grind.

Good thing you already knew it is just you arguing semantics. The real world is of course always full of unpredictable events, but we are talking about RNG in TH, we are talking about players getting to pick something out of a blind chance, which definitely is not happening in Dwarven Discovery.

I never won a lottory jackport but it doesn't mean it is "purposefully shifted". All the odds are clearly shown there. I am also getting a lot of whites and yellows too, not just you. It is because the combined odds of red and purple prizes is just 6.38%.

I totally dislike this promo, it is a waste of time and I hate it.

I don't mind the 3 keys a day that you can choose from 3 prizes as per normal, but this is overly complicated, time wasting and the timing is appalling.

300+ hours of this will lose Jagex a heap of potential money from people who might normally buy keys for dxp..

As far as mtx is concerned I think how people choose to spend their money is their business and not mine, but this was a poorly thought through promotion which Jagex will potentially regret. A wasted revenue generating promo.

This is just one of the many different kinds of promotions. It probably will be run once in a while only, so no big long term effects. It may also give some people who only want to spend real money to buy things they know what exactly they are a reason to spend too.
