If you accept this concept of "free" game then yes, oddments are "free" but you will also have to admit TH keys and RunePass are "free" by the same token too.

Logging in and opening the interfaces required doesn't take nearly as much effort as earning geepee, so sorry but your logic is massively flawed, as per usual.

Did Jagex ever say you can just "log in and open the oddment store interface" to collect whatever thing for free? I did not see that in their post.

In fact, free items that can be collected for free are usually obtained from NPC's like Diango, whatever event NPC like the Security Week guy in Burthrope last week, or claim from SGS (membership requird for that one).

Why put truly free items in an Oddment
STORE
? :D :D :D

Once again, daily keys are free so the oddment store items are free. I'm not arguing semantics with you anymore, go out into the world and do something productive with your life.

Yes, please go out into the
REAL WORLD
and do something productive with your life.

Yes, daily keys are free so TH is free too. All of us should stop complaining about TH then. Our Thanks to Smurfyski for reminding us TH is free.
:D :D :D

The posts says "are made free to all through a simple claim" and "top 10 winners of this poll will be made free" so it's pretty clear to me that TH items will be put there for, you guessed it, free .

Oddments indeed require keys, but not all stuff actually had a price tag in the store, like SH boots and Spring Cleaner.
Feel free to take a look at my suggestions: 200m xp prestige

Silverhawk boots are marked "free" if you already own them.

They could also be obtained "free" during a couple of timed promotion period but they don't remain "free" all the time for everybody to claim. I even made a post on that "limited time free" joke that a couple of years later, Jagex may actually do the same thing by only offering what they say "free to claim" now as "limited time free" so we may only claim a piece of them once in a while, like every 3 months. Check it out on Page 5, post 9 if you want. :D :D :D

I don't even see Spring Cleaner on the TH store, even for a prize. Maybe it is just for me?

I was actually going to say this was not that bad and good for once for a step in the right direction.

Not happy about 1 year on TH, because that means that's already planned to be going on regardless of RunePass. But also getting sets off TH usually tend to be a bit overboard on RNG.

Solomons and the rest are good if you want them early. There's no real harm SGS for a year if people want something they can go do minigames and revive them for once or oddments.

But the sad thing about the post was the options. Not only nearly all the worst outfit stuff there was, but they're all sets yet were options? Bit bias and pointless if someone got all of one set and they only need the gloves.

I believe its like the lucky items that if you own it you of course cant win more than one thus dont see it as a reward.

I own both the Silverhawk Boots and the Spring Cleaner. I don't see anything about the Spring Clearner in the Oddment Store but I see Silverhawk Boots marked as "free".

Anyway, I am sure Silberhawk Boots could be claimed "free" during some TH promotion periods but not "free to claim all the time". They were used as baits to attract TH attendance, I guess. ;)

Not sure 2 years later, how "free to claim by everyone" items will be handled though.

How is this particularly different from the Rare Item Token store? Why will this system be successful in the areas that system failed?
Tiles. Give them a use!

You need to earn rare item token from playing the game or winning them from TH. But what I see this system let you just buy some items off SGS directly after 1 year, then "claim" (maybe for free, not sure with that sentence though) after 2 years.

Rare item token require in game efforts or luck from TH etc, this system (seemingly) doesn't require that, except of course, it requires Runecoins to get the items from SGS I suppose.

An excellent question for Jagex to reflect on.

I like the idea of some items being available through skilling, but I think Jagex reintroduces some TH items excessively and unnecessarily.

Skilling outfits, naturally, I feel should be attainable in-game. Cosmetic tokens, in my opinion, should not be reintroduced. Rainbow items are an example of an item that has lost most value with the exception of the teleport token and scythe. I think it is to both Jagex, and the community's benefit to allow these items to remain exclusive.

Oversaturating the market with countless tokens, and constantly reintroducing them only perpetuates their status as "TH junk".
