"First off, we'll be improving the Oddments exchange rate on all items – this will mean you receive double or triple the Oddments (depending on gem rarity). The price of items in the Oddments Store is also increasing slightly, but the end result is that the whole Oddments process will net you more than it did before."
I was planning on purchasing a large quantity of Medium Lamps, after getting a skill a bit higher.
They were listed as 125 Odd's each. Now they're 300.
That's a 140% increase.
"Slightly" = load of dino dung. I'm rather cranky about losing access to over 600k in direct experience as a result of this. I suppose I'll live, but I definitely wish I'd been told in advance about this, so I could have purchased my lamps yesterday.
However, Jagex IS looking at this accurately, beyond the initial release of this 'update'
To the best of my knowledge, a common gem used to give 10 oddments,
and now gives 25
. and still gives 10.
As the cost of items has in no case exceeded a 150% increase, we will be better off, in the long run, because of this...
Here's the breakdown. Note that anything less than 100% increase is technically covered (for now) by the doubling of our hoards of Oddments, but doesn't make anyone who's been spending them any happier.
TH Keys: 80% increase.
Silverhawk Down: 14% increase
Tight Springs: 14% increase
Dragon Trinkets: 100% increase
Metallic Dragon Trinkets: 100% increase
Pulse Cores: 67% Increase
Prismatic Stars: 100% increase
Prismatic Lamp: 140% increase.
Average: 77% increase.
So Jagex is making agility more affordable...
Making pulse cores more affordable...
Making the spring cleaner more affordable...
But otherwise, just wasting their time, and ours with this 'update'.
So unless we're aiming to scrap the majority of our TH winnings for additional Oddments (worth roughly 1/5th the item's value), they're serving us 'fertilizer' and calling it chocolate pudding.
