I figured I could afford 678 medium lamps (I hoard oddments). With the double oddments and lamps MORE than doubling. I can now only afford 565. Which equates to just under a 2m xp loss. I don't see my gain?

This up-date is nothing but a complete load of bs. Everyone has seen through it already. I find oddments useful if I'm trying to round something to a million or am near a lvl. Imo, they did not need to do anything with them. As for saying 'increased slightly' this is nothing but a downright lie. Shame on you - what a complete waste of time and effort. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it.'

We all know that treasure hunter and the oddment store co-inside with each other and you receive oddments depending on the rarity of the chest (grey, yellow, orange, red and purple).
Since the oddment store is getting a refresh and some of the items have been raised in cost, the treasure hunter should get a refresh also. they should add a new rarity gem (rainbow gem) which will hold oddments or the rare doubler which will double your oddments that you have in your pouch.
Another suggestion is when you open a chest with a key you have a chance of getting oddments instead of a lamp or star or any other item you get from a chest.

Ok so I have gone back to read the newspost and it makes even less sense now. What they have done is to increase the number of oddments you get when converting an unwanted prize but the normal 'free' amount is the same. And increased the price of direct xp compared to bonus xp items.

That would all seem to be a response to claims of gambling. Even though it would also seem to be intended to increase the number of keys people would buy. You get more back for refusing the prize you won.

But they also claim to be changing the way oddments are received and to limit the number of items you can purchase with them. Giving more free oddments would be ludicrous, so I can assume they plan to reduce or eliminate the ones we get for just using a key.

What really makes no sense is why, if they are trying to increase key sales, why would they limit the prizes you can buy with oddments??

The only thing left to do now is gather some popcorn and wait for part 2 of this 'update' to drop. Some important piece of information is missing. The formula is incomplete. A bit like the underpants gnomes from south park.

This is definitively a "corporate decision". Jagex are making changes that benefits Jagex income on the expense of the customer. These kind of rebalancing reminds me of what is happening with Bethesda and the game Fallout 76, and as with other games with microtransaction bullshit.

Many, included me, used this trash store to purchase more treasure hunter keys with surplus oddments. This is what "upsets" the greedy Jagex corporate leaders. I am very tired of microtransactions greed, not with just in this game, but with all the companies that are doing this these days, to rip off customers to line their pockets.

"First off, we'll be improving the Oddments exchange rate on all items – this will mean you receive double or triple the Oddments (depending on gem rarity). The price of items in the Oddments Store is also increasing slightly, but the end result is that the whole Oddments process will net you more than it did before."

I was planning on purchasing a large quantity of Medium Lamps, after getting a skill a bit higher.

They were listed as 125 Odd's each. Now they're 300.

That's a 140% increase.

"Slightly" = load of dino dung. I'm rather cranky about losing access to over 600k in direct experience as a result of this. I suppose I'll live, but I definitely wish I'd been told in advance about this, so I could have purchased my lamps yesterday.

However, Jagex IS looking at this accurately, beyond the initial release of this 'update'

To the best of my knowledge, a common gem used to give 10 oddments, and now gives 25 . and still gives 10.

As the cost of items has in no case exceeded a 150% increase, we will be better off, in the long run, because of this...

Here's the breakdown. Note that anything less than 100% increase is technically covered (for now) by the doubling of our hoards of Oddments, but doesn't make anyone who's been spending them any happier.

TH Keys: 80% increase.
Silverhawk Down: 14% increase
Tight Springs: 14% increase
Dragon Trinkets: 100% increase
Metallic Dragon Trinkets: 100% increase
Pulse Cores: 67% Increase
Prismatic Stars: 100% increase
Prismatic Lamp: 140% increase.

Average: 77% increase.

So Jagex is making agility more affordable...
Making pulse cores more affordable...
Making the spring cleaner more affordable...

But otherwise, just wasting their time, and ours with this 'update'.

So unless we're aiming to scrap the majority of our TH winnings for additional Oddments (worth roughly 1/5th the item's value), they're serving us 'fertilizer' and calling it chocolate pudding.

For me I don't get keys very often in game so it is pretty much a bad update. Because now I have to wait 2 times longer to cash in the oddments just to get a medium bonus star or another chance for a key. Ya, and most the time I only get the low level items on th anyway so very few oddments rewarded. Only people it really benefits is those who go out of way to buy keys making jagex more money. The whole point of runescape was low costing game play compared to wow and other online games paul gower told me and for fun...its getting away from that concept even the challenge of being in high scores lost its flare because people just buy their way to the tops. The community even split so many times I have no idea whos tops anymore because most people don't talk in game anymore too busy afking on irons or 07 which isnt even 07 anymore from what I've seen or playing on mobiles and cant see the chats anyway. Too many forums, and other sites for communicating no wonder players are leaving I even tried to get a few old timers to come back for new skill in january but nope they want to play other games because runescape has become ruined.
