Also to mention # of users (players) is always the most important metric. If you can get 10x more players by charging 10x less, you should do that. You'll find some way to make more money eventually. And most costs for video games and software are fixed costs.

I just want to mention this because people get focused on servers and bandwidth but that stuff is really so cheap. You can rent a ""server"" from Amazon (not even the cheapest provider), $14.60/mo, 3 yr contract. That server can handle thousands of concurrent web requests easily. RS's protocol especially is trivial as hell.

So if MTX actually reduces player counts significantly, that's a bad thing financially. Even financial gap if the gap isn't strictly more. But we don't know for sure. MTX might have no effect on player count in reality for all we know. I don't think so though, but we don't know.

Except, that there is more to running a game than merely hosting costs.
The real money sinks are development costs and of course the yearly bonuses for the CEO and managers. Even then, TH is a tumor that needs to die or needs to be regulated by law.
Remove TH, and put stuff from TH to Solomon's store as guarantees. No disappointment to the average player who only uses free keys which yield trash, and those who do buy into MTX can have a clear idea what the thing they want is going to cost them.

They can't just simply remove TH, even though it might seem simple to you like pulling a plug out of an outlet, it's not. The damage has already been done, so it's not like removing it from the game would change anything. Only thing it will do is please the small amount of whiners who cry about having to see anything TH related ever again, but then again they'll probably just find something else to complain about. They got their way once, why not try something else they don't like.

Don't get me wrong, still voice your opinion, but saying to just straight out remove it won't get you anywhere. Find something constructive to say, that may either make it be less annoying or not as overpowered. I think they're "trying" to make a start by reviewing the rewards you get and limit the amount of promotions.

"The mixing of money and addiction is gambling," the Gaming Commission declared. Belgium's Minister of Justice Koen Geens also weighed in, saying, "Mixing gambling and gaming, especially at a young age, is dangerous for the mental health of the child."

He said the process will take time, "because we have to go to Europe. We will certainly try to ban it."

-> UK is still in the EU and besides if you take money from players in the EU you are bound to follow EU trade regulations.

-> Law is probably going to be general enough as to not allow gaming companies to find loopholes around it.

The end is coming for this mtx crap, EA's bfr2 may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the industry. A ban or at least restrictions on mtx in games is inevitable now in at least some countries.

Jagex can either take this chance to say they will change their business model for RS3 or yet keep pushing MTX and DESTROY RS3 completely with their own hands.

The Jagex loyalists arguing that removing TH will not achieve anything are pathetic. They only say that because they were noobs back before the MTX era and wouldn't have achieved their 99s without the massive xp boosts given by the crap from TH.

Jagex once removed the wildy and free trade and the game managed to recover enough before they DESTROYED it again by allowing bots to run wild and then introducing EOC and MTX all in one year.

You got trolled. Belgium government has never said it is gambling and they never said they are going to do anything all. You can go to the same website and find another article correcting that April Fools mistake. I guess the Belgium government has probably given their editor in chief a wake up call. ;)

You may also wonder what happened to the UK Parliament Petition thread? What doesn't anybody bump it up anymore? The simple answer is UK has already responded a couple of weeks ago... and you know the result already. Sorry...
NOTHING
