Sure Jagex have lawyers. They even told the UK Parliament they made contacts with the Authorities for about 200 hours a years.

Of course, they know laws well. That's why everything is fine with not just TH, but GDPR and even the US Civil Rights to their end. :D

I don't care at all TBH, especially if it has nothing to do with this thread. :D

Hey Everyone,

Let's keep the name calling out of the topic and let's keep this conversation on topic and civil.

Thanks all!

Hello,

I am writing to find out what you intend to do about Jagex, and Runescape.com, Treasure Hunter game. The company based in Cambridge UK was sold to Insight Venture Partners, who have since sold it to Shandong Hongda, a company known primarily for its iron ore mining operations for 300 million pounds. The original British owners have stated that Treasure Hunter, which was originally named Squeal of Fortune, was their reason for leaving the company. Now that the company is owned by China, I am wondering what you are doing to protect children of the UK against this blatant gambling promotion. We know Runescape player "A Friend" has recently spent $11,000 USD https://youtu.be/dCXjizaL7x8

So we can easily see how damaging this can be and how Jagex are doing nothing to stop people gambling and wasting thousands of pounds on nothing.

We also know that Runescape gold has a real world value as bonds are sold to convert real money into game money. You can buy runescape gold through bonds and you can pay for membership, event tickets and even hotels using runescape gold through bonds or through real money which gives you an exact pound to runescape gold value. Every excuse given by Jagex as to how this is not gambling because you always win something and how runescape gold and items have no real value have been debunked by the player base, and it is pretty pathetic that the gambling commission does not do what it is meant to do to protect our children because it seems to have just taken Jagex's word on their excuses which are clearly untrue, even the children playing the game can see this is nonsense and that the gambling commission are not doing their job. Doing nothing about this is simply not good enough and has caused the decline

n civilisation with all these gambling problems and gambling addicts we now have to deal with as a society. I am pretty disgusted that you feel these items have no real world value when Jagex themselves have taken many people to court for making money off their games either through gold mining and gold farming. People have been selling their intellectual property for years to the point that they have started selling gold themselves. People have been gambling in game either through staking at the duel arena or through games of chance such as the flower game so Jagex had to make player run games of chance against the rules and yet Jagex run games of chance are stlll allowed and yet they claim it has no monetary value. That is clearly nonsense that anyone I am sure can see.

Yeah, Lola I mean, this is from the UK parliament's website:

'How do the design features of games affect the way people play? RuneScape game designers give evidence to DCMS Committee

Watch Parliament TV: Immersive and addictive technologies
Inquiry: Immersive and addictive technologies
Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee
Witnesses
Tuesday 2 April, The Thatcher Room, Portcullis House

At 10.30am

Neil McClarty, VP Growth & Product Services, Jagex
Kelvin Plomer, Director of Player Experience, Jagex
About the session
How do the design features of games affect the way people play? The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee will discuss “Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games” (MMORPGs) with a UK-based company Jagex, who is responsible for one of the most popular games in the genre, RuneScape, as it continues its inquiry into immersive and addictive technologies.

The Committee has received evidence indicating that certain design features of MMORPGs can make them particularly hard for gamers to retain control over their levels of gaming or spending. MPs will ask Jagex about the monetisation strategies used in their free-to-play games; any interventions they deploy to help people retain control over playing or spending on online games; and the collection of data about players in games.'

Hey again,

Let's all try to keep this on-topic (the topic is not about a specific someone's behavior). That said, if you do not like the way someone is replying/reacting to your input, you simply do not have to acknowledge or quote for a reply.

I hope we can keep this going in a way that is not targeting fellow players of this wonderful thing we call Runescape :)

Thanks again!

Sigh, seems kind of difficult to have an open discussion with a filter on everything that might imply anything negative. Discussing in a polite matter could mean learning opportunities for some, it saddens me to see this chance be taken down.

At least the thread has not been taken down yet, so I guess that's a plus.
