I guess that's our reward for all those years of hard work towards the French community. It's indeed a shame but we're all used to Jagex going against its own decisions, and who knows, maybe in 2 months they'll ask us to promote some of their stuff (who said Rs3 ?) to throw us away one week later (the legend once said that fansites were getting teasers every week).

I really don't understand : you have CM jmods (shouldn't they have to speak several languages ?), and even Jmods "managing" (doing the CM's job) the foreign communities official forums (like Mod Jon for the french one) who could make sure everything is going fine. Still, you're basically saying that after litteraly years of collaboration we're not trustworthy anymore, because even if we're an (or should I say an ex) Gold fansite, we could somehow go insane.

Is that how far your views for foreign communities are going ? Are you dropping your lasts actives foreign fansites because of that ? Pull yourselves together, it's the Year of the Players as you like to say.

And of course kudos on your extraordinary non-existent communication as usual.

I don't get it.

I would say that if CM coverage is lacking in certain languages, the specialised fansites could actually help Jagex reach out to those players. After all, we provide a platform for players to get information and support about RuneScape in their own language.

We not only enhance players' RuneScape experience with guides/events, we help players with account issues too. Things like "Is this a phishing mail?" or "I got muted, how do I see why?".
Things CM might do if they had the staff.

Surely with a fansite staff member to guide you, explaining things, and a little google translate you can get an idea of what a fansite is doing and how.

Imo lack of CM coverage in a language should be a reason to give fansites in that language more focus, not less.

Furthermore: the one thing we've been saying when asked what we want from fansite support is "clarity". Why do we have to find out about these things by reading other fansites' threads? At the very least inform us of changes.. A topic on this forum is fine, a group mailing is better.
The answer "no" is still better than no answer at all.

I would love to give a proper reply, based on reasonable arguments, but I do not know where to begin. The amount of disrespect we currently get from JaGeX just completely blows my brains out. Every time JaGeX mailed us to promote certain events, happenings, gatherings,... We did. We sent back feedback, as asked by the J-mods. But what did we get in return? A huge silence. No replies on requests for support for tournaments. No replies on questions concerning fansite support. No replies on the matter of security issues. It was really a one-way traffic .

And now this. Really? We have proven ourselves as community/communities. That's why we are on that list in the first place. But I should correct myself; were.

Original message details are unavailable.
I can of course promote events, tweet cool stuff and join friends chats, which I find to be the most beneficial form of action

We tried. No response.

Original message details are unavailable.
Thanks,

Thanks...werefor? For our understanding? We do not, for your information.

Hi,

We do appreciate and value the support language fansites provide the community and it is something I am passionate about ensuring we can engage with and promote.

Maitre Sylv, it is difficult to recruit bilingual staff members though regardless I am still committed to supporting you and others, and am liaising with other teams and resources here at Jagex to do just that. It isn't that I or anyone thinks you're not trust worthy, it's simply to put you on the public threads we'll need to make sure you're in the right support category, and I can't do that as I can't read any other language & therefore can't review your sites fully. To make sure I don't under-rank it by simply not understanding the language I've asked for some of the language mods to help me with this.

Ilovearagorn, thanks for your feedback. When I assumed the position as Fansite Lead I e-mailed out all of the contact e-mails I had been passed over regarding the changes, which included the temporary pause to listing language fansites on the public forums. I can only apoloigse if you didn't have that communication sent directly to your e-mail, though if it wasn't on file that may be why. I am still happy to support language fansites in the Community Chronicle & social sites, I just need the information sent to me via the dedicated threads. :)

Findolfin, I have looked at your posts and can see you haven't posted in any of the dedicated promotion threads - if you post in them I will be sure to check it out and promote events/updates where possible!

As the fansite criteria and scheme has changed, for me to review language fansites and place them in the correct rank category I will require support from our localisation teams, which takes time and isn't a quick job - though we appreciate your patience whilst we do this.

Cheers guys!

Thanks,

That's odd. We had been receiving the emails from Mod Lods just fine. I believe the last mailing we received (other than replies to our emails) was the one about bonds on 2 Oct 2013. I do have an email on 25 Nov mailing you our email address, and a confirmation from you.

As for what Findolfin was talking about..
The requests for promotion were done before the promotion thread you refer to had been created. Our most recent attempt for promotion was for our survival tournament, for which we sent an email at 19 Oct, at which we did not get a reply until 27 Nov, after a bunch of reminders.. By then our tournament entrance deadline had long passed.
We had sent emails about the tournament we organised at the launch of divination as well, but never got any reply at all. Probably because Lods had "left the building" and there was no jmod around at all. (Ofc, no one was told about this and we had to find out afterwards, much like what happened with most of the previous jmods we had worked with..)
Before that we had a few successful communication attempts with Mod Lods, including one at the launch of OSRS.

You may understand that with this track record, and the fact that only a small portion of our target audiences overlap, we don't try this very often. I prefer prizing (and teasers! what happened to them?) to promotion, personally.

Thank you for your reply everyone.

I think we're clarified now about this issue. It is really good that language JMods will help you now.

I can somehow understand why we aren't on the public list now, but maybe there should be a reference there to the fansites that are being evaluated. Not being mentioned on the public list, like Maitre said, seems that those fansites aren't trustworthy anymore and we won't be able to proof that we are official fansites. That's why there should still be a reference there about those fansites.

Still, I have to disagree on some other topics here. I think that every former CM JMod have done a great job there (not an excellent one, but a good one) and now Mod Infinity is surely trying his best, but still learning few things on how to be a CM JMod or he has loads of work to do. Why did I said this? Because former CM JMods we're really alot more "talkative" like, they would send us regular e-mails to our inboxes with exclusive pictures and other stuff and that was great because that was an argument for people to visit fansites. But, whenever I mailed Mod Infinity, he replied to my e-mails and answered my questions.

Still, I don't think former CM JMods treated us in a "One-way traffic", because whenever I needed them, they helped me out, they have adverted my events whenever I asked them for and they even got, sometimes, special prizes for the contests and competitions we settle in RSPortugal. Considering all this, I think we have to help them "traffic" in both ways. But this is just my opinion on these topics.

But well, returning to the main topic issue now, I hope you can get Mod Luiz and his team to support you on the evaluation of RSPortugal, because we made a good progress, like having all quest guides in portuguese, we're running events in RS3 and OSRS every month and we have our designer working on ways to provide RSPortugal a modern and attractive look.

Cheers,
Frankventura

I don't think this is much of a problem to handle for Spanish and Portuguese fansites
since you guys hired Local mods for Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish.
And as far as i know they're part of the Community Management, but nonetheless we really got to appreciate all you've done so far for us Mod Infinity, keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Really look forward to seeing Foreign Fansites be apart of the Fansite Tier System, even if they get their own tier ranking system would still mean a lot to them.

Come to think about it would it be hard to create a separate tier system for Foreign Fansites which can be used when evaluating their site. I feel that foreign language fansites can offer great support and feedback for Jagex, since they can help build a bigger Community within their fansite and can get more other foreign language players to be more apart of the game and feedback.

I am not saying feedback is bad, but I feel that a connection is lost with foreign language fansites and Jagex and I feel it should some home be reconnected. Having some level of support from Jagex means a lot to some fansites and helps them grow their Communities and grow more resources for Jagex to look at, since a lot of it is volunteered and a lot of passion when making a Fansite for RuneScape.

Although I don't have a foreign language fansite, I still care about all fansites who spends time to make something for the RuneScape Community and for the game they have a passion for it really does mean a lot and I just wish to see them getting some level of support.

I just don't want to see it get to a point where foreign fansites is not recognized as a Support/Ranked fansite and months and months go by and all of a sudden the Support Tier system becomes broken.

As far as now I do appreciate the work that you are putting into the Fansite Community Infinity, and hope it is always being adjusted as more and more fansites grow and move up. I know I one day look forward to working closely with Jagex, and I am sure the foreign language sites do to wish to work closely with Jagex.

Hey and what about us, fansites with languages different to Runescape Game languages? What you guys were discussing was related to French/Dutch/Spanish/Portuguese but there is plenty of other European languages with active player bases.

Speaking of us, Czecho-Slovak Forces, when I got first time in touch with Mod Infinity I was really excited and hoping to get support and help from Jagex. However reality was a little bit different...

Our Team have been putting amazing amount of effort and work into supporting Czecho - Slovak Runescape community. Each month we release on average about 20 new big guides. We post so many articles about new updates or RS news, and so many translations. All the time there is some ongoing competition and every year we give out hundreds of millions of GP to players. We host up to 20 events each month ingame (together in RS and OSRS). On top of that we are really active on social media. We help both new players and comeback players who return to game. These guys have a great place to come back and thanks to us, they have much easier time absorbing all new stuff and changes in game. We are even developing our own RS Tools and Calculators. These are just some highlights, I am trying to keep it short...

Summing all of this up, you can tell we are working really hard and doing an excellent job trying to keep RS community in our 2 countries alive and strong. I am pretty sure Jagex does not want to loose this market and does not plan to give up on 16M people who inhabit these 2 countries. Our players have strong national feelings and love to stick together. We take care of them. And let's be honest, we are the only ones, to do this. Will you help us?

I can not stress out how important the following paragraph is, so please pay attention to it. I am not blaming anyone. Especially not you, Mod Infinity, because I can clearly see you are trying to do you best and you do your work with love and passion. But, and again this is important, please do not look for excuses and reasons why is something hard to achieve. The question is only if you want to officially support us or you don't. Because if you do, I am sure you can make this happen. You can arrange a meeting with Fansite representative and with his help and some Google Translator it won't be that hard to review any fansite. This is just a simple example, there are other ways...

Current state of thing is not really helping us... If you share our event or content from our website it will probably not reach our target audience. 5 foreign players who don't understand our language browsing our website or attending our event are not going to help to our case at any way... We've been waiting for weeks now,
if something is going to change but so far nothing happend. We spend hours and hours of our time, we would like to see a little bit more in return from Jagex.

Are you going to change this? Can we count on you? Can CM team dedicate more effort and time into fansites who work hard?
