Mother Seren
has a kill on the God scoreboard from mercy-killing Mah in Children of Mah.

The question is: how does Sliske know this?!

No one other than Seren herself and the player saw her strike Mah. Neither Zaros or the other Mahjarrat knew about this. They were all busy performing the ritual down below.

Near the end of the quest, we were given the option in a dialogue to divulge this secret to Zaros or keep it a secret between us and Seren. Whether we told Zaros that Seren killed Mah or not, Sliske somehow knew anyway and it's still on the FREAKIN Godboard. HOW?!

Theory 1:

Could Sliske have been spying in the Shadow Realm during the whole quest?

It is possible, but I highly doubt this. Hazeel and Khazard both have the power to gaze and sense stuff in the Shadow Realm (as seen in Dishonour Amongst Thieves). They would have sensed Sliske near them. Also, Zaros should have been able to sense him too if he were there. Zaros' mastery over the Shadow Realm on Freneskae is said to be unchallenged by any other, according to some source I heard. In addition, if Sliske was present on Freneskae, did he take in some of the ritual's energy too? :O

Theory 2:

Sliske ASSUMED.

Just as Sliske assumed my gender (and misgendered me in the process) by referring to me as a man in a quest dialogue, he assumed and jumped to the conclusion that Seren must have killed Mah somehow. Sliske is known for jumping into assumptions . He miraculously knew Seren was alive during the grand ascension, despite TLW not happening yet, yet he didn't invite Elidinis for whatever reason, not knowing either people's states.

Theory 3

Sliske's master is Seren! :O :O :O
I submissively obey Lady Seren's every whim and relish every waking moment willingly serving her. She is my mistress and I am nothing without her. I am without thought, self-awareness, and being without her. She is my everything.

Well Zamorak knew and said it out loud...and as to how he knew...I'm guessing it was just a process of elimination. Someone killed Mah and it was me or Seren....well he knew I was too tender hearted to do such a nasty thing, so it was obviously Seren. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Boi, I am assuming you are referring to this quote?

"You do not get to be sorry. You are the cause of so much loss, so much misery...even the death of your own mother!" - Zamorak

That quote can be interpreted in so0o0o0o0oo many ways. Zamorak could have been adding onto Azzanadra's statement that came before about Seren's failure of imagination to come up with a better solution to save her Mother, despite all the power and wisdom she had, which led Mah into the state she is in now. It does not necessarily assert that Seren was the killer. It only suggests that Seren got Mah in this horrid tormenting situation, which eventually resulted in her death. Mah's death could look like anything to Zaros and the other Mahjarrat. It could have been a suicide after being unable to bear so much pain, or as Seren suggests, the result of Zaros' and the Mahjarrat draining all the power out of her. The Player even assumes that the Mahjarrat believed it was the ritual that killed her, but we cleared this up by saying, "Mah wasn't completely dead when the ritual ended. Seren made the decision to put her out of her misery" to Zaros in secrecy (if we chose to).

"Zaros! Your actions resulted in the death of our own mother. You will pay for what you have done here. Mah's death is on YOUR hands, and while I still draw breath, I will stand against you!" --Seren.

tl;dr Zamorak could have thought that it was Seren's ignorance and "stupid" idea that led to Mah's state and downfall. It does not firmly suggest that she was the killer. It suggests that she was involved in her death.
I submissively obey Lady Seren's every whim and relish every waking moment willingly serving her. She is my mistress and I am nothing without her. I am without thought, self-awareness, and being without her. She is my everything.

Sliske was Praefectus Praetorio during the second age, he's a master of the shadow realm, and in general rather clever. Either he was present in some way during CoM (imagine him lounging on a deck chair atop a distant rock, observing the events with a telescope and some popcorn), or he ferreted out the details secondhand from the Mahjarrat. I assume he's still on speaking terms with a few of them, anyway. Other possibilities involve performing some kind of autopsy on Mah and determining it was Seren's work, or maybe all of the Mah children could just sense what had happened without being there to actually see it.

Or the Kharshai that was present during the latter half of the quest was actually Sliske in disguise.

Point is, it's no great mystery either way.

You're a Serenist and you're saying that? Sheeeeeeeeyit.

No, I'm being serious. You support Seren. You cosplay as an elf. Seren's well known to be caring and emotional. And you're saying she said, "Beauty is meaningless." and "This conversation is irrelevant." Mary mother of Zaros, what on earth have you been eating?

- Sliske had a spy there in the Shadow Realm

- with everything that was going on (power drain, the presence of Mah, etc) everyone was too focused to worry about someone in the Shadow Realm, even Sliske

- Zaros WAS aware Sliske was there, but did and said nothing, since even Sliske's help was needed for this (hey, they brought the Zarosian and Zamorakian Mahjarrat together, and even Zamorak took part in the ritual ... adding Sliske to the ritual wouldn't have hurt)

- Sliske has become something more than a Mahjarrat, but not a god now, so even if we was there, Khazard, Hazeel, and perhaps even Zaros wouldn't have been sure what was present

I'd say shadow realm spying is the most likely thing. He's gotten quite a bit better at it with his newfound power, as we saw with the amped up barrows brothers. I imagine he was camped on a nearby mountain with a bag of popcorn.

Sliske is using the piece of "soul" he stole from us to see what we do. Spying on us. Maybe that is why he didn't bother attending...he didn't have to.

Sliske: Ugh, what's he doing now, more thieving? I love a good heist but this is just repetitive. Go out and slay some bosses already, World Guardian!
