In the past few months, Jagex have removed quest requirements from Ritual of the Mahjarrat and Children of Mah.
Wait, they removed requierments from RotM and CoM? Might as well start giving people rotten potatos when they step off of tutorial island while they're at it at the rate they're going. Stupid idiots.

where's this mentioned? usually they say do x quests to fully appreciate the quest or whatever

They first mentioned it in a livestream, then went on to talk about it in Runefest 2018:

"We don't have a policy on this but Jack is very much in favour of not having quests require other quests. We have a clear example right now with Sliske's Endgame, which still not many people have completed. It makes huge changes to the plot, the world is going to be a different place after Sliske's Endgame, so do we restrict the story moving forward? People ask us when is 6th age moving forward, part of the problem is it's locked behind a quest that requires almost every other quest in the game. This is why The World Wakes had the soft and hard quest requirements. So are we going to do a repeat of The World Wakes model, or change our policy on quest requirements entirely."

but where do they mention that this specific quest comes chronologically before the other? there is no reference in game to even suggest this and it feels like an oversight. the least they could do is say that htis chornologically happens before desperate times, instead there is nothing to suggest htis other than the content of the quest

As this thread is asking for clarification on lore, it has been moved to the RuneScape Lore Discussion Forum.

i think this is clarification about a jagex oversight, not about the lore. it is clear that these should be noted in game that they occur in chronological order but are not. please move out of this dead forum that gets no traffic and has nothin to do with the actual issue at hand

They said any quest, not just "this" or "that" or whatever quest you point at , can come without the concern of chronological orders.

I don't think they ever stated the chronological order. It's just that Curse of the Black Stone was released before Desperate Times, the order of release may be expected to correspond to the chronological order. Other than that, both quests recommend Sliske's Endgame, which brings us to back to the earlier problem that Jagex sees about how Sliske's Endgame requires several quests, which makes Jagex reluctant to have any other quests require it.

Personally, I think it would have been fine to have Curse of the Black Stone require Sliske's Endgame, while I kind of understand how Desperate Times is designed to function like Missing, Presumed Death.

OK then, leave my answer to the ones who can read and understand it then. Meanwhile, good luck waiting for somebody else to answer your question and hope you don't have to wait forever... :D :D :D
