I would preach co-existence. Let the followers of other gods do as they please, as long as they don't interfere with us (the followers of Armadyl). And if they get into a fight with another faction, let them take care of it. Each is free to use Gielinor in their own way, as long as they don't try to conquer it (Which sadly it seems is the goal of most of the other factions, including the godless).

"Thou shalt avoid war; but, if thou must fight, Believe, and thou shalt strike true. This is the law of Armadyl. "
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.

I would teach the ways of the Avernic and Mahjarrat through Zamorak's eyes. Life is cruel, it does not yield at any behest nor wish. You must tame it, overcome it, survive it. Life is also alike two-sides of a sword. At one tip, you cling onto it, the sharp end is severe and unyielding, it seeks to destroy and harm all in its way, this is the way of chaos. This is what Zamorak seeks to use in times of the opposite, the hilt. On this side, lies a dull, orderly life, one of stagnation of boredom and languishing ruin. This is what Zamorak seeks to avoid. By using chaos, we steer away from the hilt, but we must survive the tip to remain strong.

In this way, we keep a form of balance, unlike Guthix's way. It is continuous, and yet, never consistent. Each time we reach the hilt, we throw ourselves into the abyss, and strive to balance ourselves between the two dangers. Keeping ourselves in glory, but finding new ways to improve.

We are also as an example, a geode, we must carve through our dull husks, through conflict and striving to overcome adversity, and with enough power and opportunity and hard-work, we shall expose our crystal, inner layers.

STRENGTH THROUGH CHAOS!

As the real life equivalent of Azzanadra, with signature hat in tow, this is a worthwhile thread. Well done Asshurtes.

I wouldn't emphasize one part of Zaros' philosophy/message above one another, because it all fits into one cohesive way to live your life.

You should strive to increase in power, but it's also crucial you know also how to wield that power, never giving into weakness whilst always striving to move beyond the need of guidance.

You can easily lose yourself if you try and pick and choose which one of these "Commandments" to follow, you'd become no better than someone who would enslave a race for being told no, to rather die and kill all those around them than to surrender, to leave those that remained in your service alone while you lose sight of your role as their guardian.

Zaros is the greatest life coach you could ask for.

I would be interested in any sect of Zarosianism that totally disregarded the "life coach" nonsense; all of that self-help book trash is so self-evident as to be practically worthless.

I do like the pseudo-fascist "control below, deference above" ideology from the Second Age, but without the framework of the empire it doesn't make much sense.

I don't think any of the Gods has got it exactly right.

I think I'd try to highlight the best philosophies from many of them.

Armadyl and creating laws which hold all as equals.
Zamorak's belief that our finest moments come from overcoming adversity.
Saradomin's order to create a sort of united team of all beings
Guthix's belief that all things should be balanced. Too much order and it becomes stagnant, too much chaos and there are too many problems.
If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now.

Huh...realized I never did one for myself. I suppose I'll add that now.

First off, it would be called Ascertian/Hallowvalen Saradominism. I can't decide which I prefer. Much like how the Citharede abbey focuses on the history of Saint Elspeth, we focus on the history of Hallowvale and what we can learn from its tragic past.

As far as teachings go, I would go beyond the normal teachings of order, wisdom, etc. I would teach about anchoring yourself to an ideal to believe in and fight for. I would encourage them to adopt Utilitarianism, but its not a necessity. I would teach them to pursue power, but never for personal gain; only in the pursuit of that ideal you follow and believe in.

I would probably forgo the teachings of honor, valor and chivalry. I would teach that these things are trivial and just not practical, as nice as they may seem. Perhaps the ideal my disciples choose to fight for is a world where these things are valued, but they should recognize that in the present they just can't be followed and simultaneously expect great success. Pragmatism would be a central pillar of my interpretation.

On the issue of wisdom, I would tell them that history is the greatest teacher. All the problems we face in the present mirror in some degree to problems we have faced prior, and the ways to overcome our present issues can be found in history as well. Hallowvale rose and fell for a reason: it is important we emulate it success and prevent the mistakes that allowed its fall. I would also say its important to stay open minded to all things. Everything must be questioned for true learning to occur and progress to be made. Dismissing foreign ideas before going to through the rigorous analysis of deciding their value towards your cause is only self inhibiting, and inhibiting to the pursuit of the ideal they follow.

I would not waste time with preaching or lecturing.
If you are a Zarosian, I expect you to be well versed Zaros' philosophy.
You should already have already mastered self control, and be proficient in reason and logic.
You should already be a proficient leader in your own right, and thus not need my advice.
