Which is exactly why it isn't year 4 of the 6th Age. No time has visibly passed in-game, otherwise children would've grown older, people would've moved or got married, old people would have died, etc. For all intents and purposes it's the first year of the 6th Age. Considering everything that happened in the year 169 of the Fifth Age, that really wouldn't be too surprising.

Canonically it is year 4 as of Kindred Spirits. The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,
Poke monsters with a sharp stick, Then steal anything that isn't nailed down!

The way I see it, it's the 4th year of the 6th age except where it isn't.

By the time we're in Kindred Spirits, we're 3+ years past the World Wakes. And in the majority of the world, that change doesn't matter, and we can just assume it's the same old mundane world that's aged along with us.

But all quest content, regardless of what it says in the quest log, is situated in a place in time. That place might be ambiguously defined. But no quest (or story content for that matter) is timeless.
