Simple logic:
- In Death of Chivalry, Saradomin wasn't aiming at US, he was aiming for the Wand of Resurrection. Yes, we were in contact with the Wand, but it did not have that "divine protection". Thus Saradomin was in a tug-of-war with us. He won.

- Seren's efforts were similar. Normally she would have used her power to do any one of a number of mundane solutions: teleport you, conjure up a mist of fluff, for an intricate web of white crystal to block our fall and slide us down to her.
Instead, she had to get creative.

The power of Guthix's "world guardian" protection isn't absolute.
True, a god can't just whisk us away to beneath the ocean or into a pool of lava (then again, we'd just respawn).
But, that wouldn't stop a god from doing anything like
- stabbing you with a normal sword
- punching you
- growing 3 stories tall and stomping on you (where their weight and force of the foot would be enough to crush you)
- having spotters at the common teleport hubs, waiting for you to arrive, have the spotter distract you for a second, while the god then teleports a chunk of mountain right above you and letting gravity do the rest
- hire a group of people to kill you
I hope you get the idea.

"Saradomin ripped the elder wand from our grasp with divine energy"

I watched that cutscene, you reach for it and he telegrabs it before you can touch it. I wouldn't say that counts.

You could also make the case that the player instinctively dodged the blast of magic, you don't really see the "splash" particles of it on the player.

And all Seren did was float up and catch you (presumably). That doesn't require touching you with magic. Or you could say that you were probably consenting pretty hard "oh gods that's a cliff SOMEONE HELP ME!!!"

At least my assumption headcanon-wise is that we're not immune to the gods, we just nullify god magic. Think of it in D&D terms that we've stripped them of their ability to use their epic level spell slots against us and they can only use low level ones, essentially putting them on the threat level of a mortal spellcaster.
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

This. In Fate of the Gods, Mah's screams still hurt us despite our World Guardian status...only to later be told that if anyone else tried what we did, there was a good chance they would've been disintegrated on the spot and have their ashes scattered to the winds.

Saradomin's blast could go either way. It could've knocked us back without hurting us, we could've just dodged it, but either way we weren't holding the wand when he grabbed it with his magic. World Guardian status probably kept us alive, but it's kinda hard to tell since we're missing some context on just how strong that blast was to begin with.

Seren could've simply just flew up and grabbed us for all we know. Or used a rock to catch us in midair. Or did some weird magic stuff to make a crystal slip & slide offscreen that we landed on and went down. Or any number of things. You don't need to directly affect something with magic to save it with magic involved.

Long story short: Anyone who wants to put the effort into finding a way to hurt or help us despite the World Guardian powers we have can easily figure out ways around it. After all, getting punched in the face or stabbed or just picked up and thrown across the continent isn't exactly powered by magic.

Mah being an elder god makes sense. Her power exceeds Guthix. Now, i will need to rewatch the cutscene but for some reason i recall our character holding the wand and saradomin demanding it then you have a choice to give or keep and if you keep he forcefully removes it.
I have seen the dark universe yawning, where the black planets roll without aim;
Where they roll in their horror unheeded, without knowledge or lustre or name.

I just went and rewatched the scene myself and you're not technically wrong. Unless something didn't translate over to the NXT client from java, the refusal scene shows your character dropping the wand because you fall down from his blast before Saradomin takes possession of it. Though the animations and timing of the whole thing threw me off a bit since it looks like your character's grabbing it off the ground when it gets telegrabbed O_o

Well we did kinda piss Saradomin off, and as the wand proved, he's not all goodie goodie.

Knowing that, it was probably a blast meant to leave us lying on our back for a few hours.. instead it just knocked us on our rear end. Thanks, Guthix.
