Just like how the World Gate was released a certain period early before FOTG was released (it was stashed away in the Shadows until someone with the ring happened to be nearby found it), Jagex has decided to tease the playerbase something for Menaphos.


BEHOLD: The Sundial
(found directly North of the Menaphos magic carpet location)


This thread is to be used to discuss any and all aspects of the new Menaphos sundial teaser.

Introduction:

What do we know about this sundial so far? Well, this sundial has secrets. You see, at the end of the recent Youtube Trailer video for Menaphos, there were green Arabian symbols which translated to a secret link. This link here: bit.ly/gotogoldenpath

Opening the link, it leads to a huuge paragraph full of arabian text. The last sentence says "The code is the key." What does this mean? Someone on reddit figured out it meant to check the "source HTML code" of that site. Doing that, the guy found a secret instagram buried in the code:

Each picture on that mysterious account had an NPC on it. (A new picture is released daily.) Wahisietel - W, Apmeken-A, Domminik (owner of Al-Kharid's craft store) - D.

Each first letter spells out W-A-D, which eventually leads to a complete name. On 00:22:49 GMT, local RS player Crondis discovered the last two letters U-D two days before the last two pictures were released on the mysterious instagram through sheer trial-and-error—going through hundreds of egyptian names beginning with W-A-D.

When we take the WADUD name (using the key below) and enter it into the sundial, it clicks O_o




Now we just need to wait for the other names to be released and see what happens when the sundial is fully completed.

Brb. Checking all of the conspiracy theories.

It looks like Admiral W is the Jack of Spades. His image looks about the same as the locked outline on the Menaphos site. Ignore this, I'm an idiot.

In the Instagram page, the first letter of each person corresponds to a letter. W ahisitel A pemekin D ominik (final letters are missing. But so far, it looks like it will spell Wadud, so Admiral W is probably Wadud...

The Insta account is @Admiral__W . On reddit, they copied that formula with "worker" "commander" and "GrandVizier" and couldn't find anything, but I decided to try it on Twitter, and this happened:

It's probably nothing, but I found a Twitter account @Commander__A made in March, with no posts, and is following nobody. I followed them with my personal account, and as of right now, I'm the only one following them. Their profile pic is a player's made Azzanadra Art.


Edit: Now @Commander__A's account is on private (their Tweets are protected), and they weren't before, but I'm still following them, so it's probably fake, or nothing then.

I don't think the third letter is D. I've said as much on Reddit, but may as well cross-post that here:

The first two letters being the first letters of the characters' names makes sense with the captions -- "he is my first", "she is my second". It refers to the characters specifically.

The caption on the third is a different format. "My third takes you here." It's referring to something or someone that takes you to that location. And Ozan takes you there in the Stolen Hearts quest -- it's the beginning of the jumping-around-rooftops part of the quest. So yeah, I think the third letter is O .

I couldn't disagree more. I think this is very significant.

Made in March, before anyone outside Jagex knew about this ARG. Username's in the same format as admiral__w. Already got a picture up there matching the first letter of the name, too. Nice to see my Azzanadrart being used!

I think it suddenly had its tweets protected because it's wasn't meant to be discovered yet -- and that it'll open up once the Commander part of the challenge starts up. We're still in Admiral week here -- can't get ahead of ourselves! :p

Because I didn't read the first post, assuming I knew all the current details of the challenge already, and managed to entirely miss the bit about WADUD making the sundial click. :P
