And just for you, I'm making an argument for it on the spot, based partly on my own playstyle in games.
What's right isn't always easy, as Dumbledore said. Sometimes you'll really want revenge on that villain, or be tempted to just pick any old option in a quest when you're not sure. If you play the "noble knight" like I do, though (not necessarily as cliched as it sounds; I do try to add more depth to my guys), things get a lot more interesting.
You have to avoid acting on your impulses. Even if you really hate that character, you have to go for the merciful route. Or if you're put in a position where the choice isn't so obvious, you really have to spend time thinking about it and weighing the pros and cons, figuring out what the "right thing" is. Birthright of the Dwarves wasn't the greatest of quests, but I remember it fondly because I spent a whole weekend carefully weighing and analyzing the pros and cons of the final choice. The future of the dwarfs, an entire nation, was at stake, after all. And you will feel more invested - You'll feel regret over some quest choices, or second guess yourself. It's great for immersion.
...On the other hand, I even made a forum thread trying to figure out which side in Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza was the most morally sound, and pretty much everyone here mocked me instead of giving me an answer.
In the end I decided it was Marimbo, btw (maybe you can see why).
But now it turns out it *did* count towards Sliske's Scoreboard! Who's laughing now? (Still you)
The Asgarnian ale must flow.

I plan on playing all of the lore content with the account, for the record.
Even more interesting responses.. Though I'm afraid all it's done is really point out my problem. I was looking for people to convince me why I should join (insert god name here).
Though it seems most of it has been people debating about the exact issue. Ultimately following an Elder God would be pointless, as once she learns of the Great Revision, that's out the window... Bandos tries to kill you (twice) in the Goblin quests, and following a god that tries to kill me... no. Just no. So THAT would be out the window before he even returns.
Honestly at this point I'm torn between Saradomin, Zamorak, Godless, and the Pantheon. That or just being a character who sides with whoever offers her the most at the time...
How about following the Queen of Ashes? The way I see it, she recruits the downtrodden by showing them a vision of an ideal world rising from the ashes of one burned to the ground. This would make her quite similar to Zamorak in a sense, only she would be more sympathetic towards people who were oppressed, such as the goblins.
Where is this information on the Queen of Ashes? On the RS wiki all it mentions is her recruiting the downtrodden...nothing about a "burn the world down and make a better world from the ashes" modus operandi. If this is her actual way of thinking....I think I'l have found my favorite Runescape deity!
